2 out of 5 stars not good on the long run   June 18, 2008
Mr. A. Barroso Gonzalez
I bought one of these like a year ago, and I come back to amazon to look for another espresso maker, because the old one still making coffee but somehow,it taste worst than ever and is also affecting my stomach. Cant be me beacuse my girlfriend feels the same and I also tried buying from nero and got no problems.
Im spanish and everyone there has one of these coffee maker at home,so I know what Im talking about. This one is not good quality. My mum has the same one for more than 15 years!

2 out of 5 stars Less than satisfactory   May 22, 2008
R. Dare
I bought this as a replacement for a cheaper stove-top espresso maker that I broke, thinking that this would be a superior model to my old one. The Bialetti is an inferior machine to my old one:

*It is poorly cast in thinner metal than my previous machine,

*The aluminium of the interior has oxidised and discoloured- a problem I never had before and

*The rubber of the seal still leaves an unpleasant aftertaste to the coffee

Therefore I cannot recommend this machine

5 out of 5 stars The best expresso I've had   April 20, 2008

I wanted to make expressos but didn't like the idea of a full-on electric one for many reasons; cost, size and cleaning hassel. This little device is perfect. Simple to use, simple to clean and makes the best expresso I've had.

My preference is for a latte. I fill the Bialetti Moka to just above the mark, heat 250ml of milk then add 100ml (2 expressos - one third yeild) of expresso. Perect. The rest I make into "White Americanos" by adding boild water and a little milk - it doesn't matter if the expresso has cooled by then.

Read the other reviews; I buy finely ground coffee (Percol Fairtrade Espresso Organic Coffee from Ocado) and compress it just a bit. One can change the strength of the final product by altering the amount of coffee and how compressed it is in the filter goody.

4 out of 5 stars Great but doesn't make 2 mugs of coffee   March 15, 2008

I use this to make 'long' coffee, not espresso. It works really well - no complaints about the coffee quality. The only problem is the size. There's nothing about capacity in the product details, so I bought this one based on an earlier review saying it makes 2 mugs of long coffee. Well ... not with the mugs in our house! (And I'd say our mugs are pretty standard size). I wish I'd bought the next size up.

4 out of 5 stars I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.   February 6, 2008

Not the coffee- the coffee I make using this pot is great. It's straightforward to use and, as another reviewer said, unpretentious. It makes...coffee. No flashing lights, no capsules that seal in the flavour, just makes coffee. It takes some skill to get it right but I appreciate that, I need to learn how to reap the rewards.
The thing that has me bamboozled is the fuzz that forms on the inside of the bottom reservoir upon cleaning. I clean and dry it, remove all soap and hard water. Leave it to drain completely then dry it completely. Yet there is always white fuzz accumulated by the next time I go to use it.
The fuzz doesn't seem to have any consequence for the quality of the coffee. It's just a little worrying and there was nothing in the instructions about it. I hope it's not a dangerous metal oxide. Oh well, the coffee is goooood.
