50litre bin July 9, 2007 Mrs. Sara Wiggins (tonbridge,uk) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Bin is brilliant. Yes lid does break - in my case after 2 years solid use (3 children banging on it to open and close) but customer service are efficient and polite and offered to send a replacement lid immediately. Many thanks to previous reviewer for the number!
Issue with lid... (Resolved) March 29, 2007 Joseph Ta Coen (London UK) 27 out of 27 found this review helpful
I bought this bin years ago, and was very happy until... I too found that the lid failed, which was irritating as the default is that the lid gaped open in 'up' position. However - and I'm not sure how hard the previous correspondant tried - I must say that the customer services were polite & helpful, and sent out a replacement lid at no charge, even though I had no receipt. From this "no questions asked" replacement service, I suspect that this was a known design issue. However I can't fault the service. If anyone has issues the Brabantia customer service number is 0870 240 7641. Ironically I would say that as this issue was resolved so helpfully, this gives me more confidence in buying products from the company in the future, as I know I won't be fobbed off.
Worth waiting for March 6, 2007 KT Sell (Basingstoke, UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this bin recently, after lusting after it for what felt like forever! We used to have a small, yellow, plastic swing-top bin, and it just wasn't up to the job. We lived with it for years, though. It seemed to always need emptying, not to mention cleaning because it was so difficult to keep the lid out of the way when scraping plates into the bin. Now I am happy. The lid is smooth and easy to open, the opening is nice and large to take the rubbish, and as the lid open upwards it's never in the way when scraping plates. Having tried standard bin bags, I bought some of the Brabantia ones yesterday because they are far superior. You get a couple of the "special" bags with the bin to try them out, and in my case it's a marketing ploy that worked! They're a much better fit than the ordinary bags, so even though they're white and not black, they're less obtrusive in the kitchen. They are expensive, but I feel it's worth spending the extra. The old bin has been relegated to a tea towel and cloth laundry basket! I will not be going back from my Brabantia bin!
Its a bin September 5, 2006 Brother Azarius (London, UK) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Its a shiny bin with a smart poppy-up top. Nice. Use your elbows when your hands are mucky. If you can afford to spend this much on a bin then you can afford the specially tailored bin bags, too. But in the end, it's just a bin.
Nice looking bin, shame it doesn't work. August 29, 2006 Mr. S. Saraf (london, england) 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought this bin in good faith afer hearing a lot of good things about it. It was going swimmingly for about 6 months and then the opening mechanism in the lid broke. I've emailed and written to Brabantia customer service, but I get the feeling that they might not actually have a customer service department, since I've had no response to either contact. If anyone from Brabantia is reading this, I'd still quite like a replacement lid. I'd even be prepared to pay for it if I had to, although presumably the 10 year guarantee should cover it.
