1 out of 5 stars WARNING: DONT BUY RUSSELL HOBBS   June 21, 2008
Ms. A. Smillie
I would leave very negative feedback if this was possible. Button wont stay down unless held for at least 10 seconds. Not very good when had for only a year. DON'T BUY.

1 out of 5 stars Pretty poor performance   April 7, 2008
Mr. Andrew F. Bennetts (Scotland)
Our toaster is 18 months old, and is now refusing to stay down when the lever is pressed. A solution which sometimes works is to switch off at the wall, while holding the lever down, then switch on again. You shouldn't need to do this of course, but overall it also sometimes burns the toast on one side & not the other, and generally, although it looks the part, I wish I'd never bought it.

I bought this toaster to replace my original(same model} but this has to be the worst toaster i have seen as it burns toast on one side whatever setting it is on , the carriage will not stay down unless it is forced hard, I am just about to smash it into oblivion.

1 out of 5 stars burnt hand and toast   August 5, 2007

I realise that my misfortunes with this toaster might relate just to the one I bought, but I would not recommend this product. I tested it three times with normal sliced bread. There are metal racks which grab the toast on either side and when the bread is placed short side first these grabbed the bread too early so that it wouldn't descend all the way. Result: burnt one half, untoasted the other half. When put in long side first you couldn't get it out because there is no extra lift.

The metal surface on the top of the toaster immediately in front of the slots got so hot that I burnt my fingers, seriously dangerous. CoolWall, but burning front!

AVOID!

3 out of 5 stars It's a top toaster   May 8, 2005

Simple lines, easy controls, half decent toast. Has a tendency to char the edges of unevenly sliced bread. Imagine toasters as cities. The Dualit two slice (which this is replacing in my kitchen) is Chicago. The RH Classic is Chester le Street.
