5 out of 5 stars everyday use for almost 8 years, cool design for cheap money   August 7, 2008
Mr. joel Chovet (Brussels & London)
Hi,

I'm French. I've settle down in London in 1999 fresh from France and I discovered that any proper English home has a kettle. In France we all had a filter coffee maker.
So, off i went to buy a kettle for home and the (nice & cheap) toaster from the same brand to become a proper "Englishman". I went for this brand which I didn't knew the existence because of the design and the brushed steel. I didn't want a plastiky one.

Since then this kettle has been used nearly everyday for almost 8 years (!). It has moved 4 times around London and is now with us in Brussels plugged in a power plug adaptator.
I wouldn't say it is brand new. I need sometimes to remove the white thing coming out from water (chalk ?) with the help of some vinegar and the red button is not working properly since a few months now.

But, really it was a great buy. It went well for almost 8 years (!) now. I will definitly buy another one. Maybe I was lucky, but I think it is fair to speak about things when they do not go wrong. Particularly with a cool design and for cheap money.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   November 14, 2007

I have owned this kettle for a couple of years. It has lasted longer than some of our other kettles, but I have only given it 2 stars because there are some things that I don't like about it, and which other reviewers have mentioned:
- the lid has to be pulled right off, unlike other kettles which have hinged lids. It is extremely tight and difficult to open and there is no way to get a good enough grip on it. Consequently, I gave up filling it this way and resorted to filling it through the spout.
- the water level indicator has never worked properly, so you have to guess how much water is inside.
- it is very noisy to operate, and heavier than a plastic kettle.
- when pouring water out, some water drips down the outside of the spout.
- after boiling the kettle, when you lift it off the base you can see small pools of water on the base near the middle where the electricity is. Whether this is leaking from the kettle itself, or a result of condensation, I don't know, but I am constantly having to dry the base off before putting the kettle back on it.
- recently the kettle has blown the 13 amp fuse in its plug. This has happened twice, and we have never known this in any previous kettles.
- a minor point is that it is only supplied with 1 filter, which soon disintegrated in our hard water. I got a replacement on ebay. It would have been nice if Russell Hobbs had put a spare in the box.

4 out of 5 stars Russell Hobbs 3067 Montana Cordless Kettle   April 10, 2007

This is the second kettle of this type that I have purchased as I was very pleased with the first, the only problem I have found is that the scale filters tend to split.

1 out of 5 stars Montana just doesnt last long   January 5, 2006

Purchased the first kettle and within about two weeks it kept turning itself off and not boiling. It was replaced and I was very pleased with everything on it till 5 months later puddles kept appearing on the worksurface. On looking closely have found water leaking out of the bottom of the plastic windows which then runs on to base and then to worksurface.

1 out of 5 stars Montana Kettle does not boil   December 29, 2003

Purchased the first kettle which had intermittent spells of turning off too soon, not allowing water to boil, and was very noisy. Changed under warranty after 4 months. The second kettle was not so noisy, and operated fine for 1 month, then the same problem began to occur, not reaching boiling point. If this fault could be corrected, I would be happy, as everything else about it is fine.
