Superb accuracy!November 7, 2004 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I just bought the Soehnle Gamma scale and have been experimenting with different weights which I have measured with accurate kitchen scale (with 1g increments). I used objects weighting 1.30kg 2.50kg and 10.05kg. Amazingly Gamma displayed exactly correct values for these, not even one increment (50g) wrong (the old Soehnle digital scale (with 0.2kg increments) displayed 0.6kg, 1.0kg and 9.4kg for these respectively). I also weighted myself and repeated the procedure by taking weights with me. Again, Gamma displayed correct weights over my weight. So you can weight items already from 1kg onwards very accurately. (Actually under 1kg too, but the scale soon recalibrates reading to 0kg, so weight locking feature does not work for under 1kg items)
The only downside of Gamma is its LCD display which is not as readable as my old scale's LED display. You can not weight yourself in the dark and the glass plate over display may cause some reflections, if you have lights just over your scale. Weight locking feature helps here too, as you can see reading without reflections when stepping out of scale. On the plus side, LCD display is likely to extend battery life significantly over LED display.
Gamma is also very solid and is activated by a light press. The quality seems to be superb.
