1 out of 5 stars So many faults - design not thought through   July 16, 2008
Dr. J. B. Wareing (UK)
I was very disappointed with this watch. First of all the strap cannot be changed and it decays quickly with sweat (which occurs when running!) and can come undone (velcro tab sticks up and catches). It means that the strap cannot be replaced - you have to buy a new watch if strap fails. Also - it says 'marathon' watch but I run many foreign marathons which have markers each km (42km) NOT each mile (26 miles) and so this watch doesn't have enough lap times (it only has 27). It also does not record current overall time plus current lap time as others do. so I can't 'see how I'm going' in any particular lap. The digital settings only go forward (If I change time zones to 1 hr back I have to go forward 23 hours).

5 out of 5 stars Timex T5E631 Mens Marathon Watch   June 18, 2008

This is an excellent watch with a large clear easily seen dial with a backlight for clear night viewing. The strap is very comfortable and as is velcro totally adjustable to suit your wrist size. It is so light in weight that you hardly realise you have a watch on your wrist. Delivery from Amazon was excellent.

5 out of 5 stars A basic watch if that's what you're looking for   April 30, 2008

Watches don't come much simpler than this one. But that was what I wanted. The digits are large and easy to read and the functions are few but all I need. The instruction manual takes 2 minutes to read and as much again to try out in practice. Some people don't like fabric velcro straps, but I do. It contains standard time, chronograph, 27 laps (Timex usually do 30 or more so this is just a "marathon" gimmick, but hey) and easy recall of laps.

If I'm going to nitpick then 1) the countdown timer is preset to a variety of times and doesn't seem user-configurable, and 2) the date readout is month and day only, no year, so when a leap year comes I suppose I'll have to adjust the date manually (unless it magically figures it out for itself and shows Feb 29).

For what I paid, I can live with that. A good purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Great Watch   March 24, 2008

I bought this watch when I started running a few months ago to time my runs, laps etc. It does everything you want it to and is really easy to use. It is much easier on the skin than other watches with metal or plastic staps.

I recently lost it on a drunken night out, don't have a clue how, but I'm buying another one now. You can't go wrong at this price.

This watch has a poor quality velcro strap which does not last. You are unable to configure the countdown alarm as required.

This watch should not be described as a marathon watch as it does not have any particularly useful features.
