Product Description This 22cm Bread Knife from Global features a long serrated blade, suitable for slicing crusty loaves, rolls and bagels. Its narrow blade cuts through even the freshest of bread effortlessly. This knife is a great addition to the Global range and is a must for any bread loving family. It sits neatly in the hand and features the same ergonomic handle as the rest of the series.
•Global Bread Knife with a Cromova 18, ice-tempered, stainless steel blade •The ergonomic handles feature 'dimples' for additional grip, and are seamless making them extremely hygienic •This Bread Knife is part of the extensive Global range, as is favoured by many professional and celebrity chefs •Blade dimensions approximately: 22cm or 9" •As with all professional knives, we would recommend that they are washed thoroughly straight after use, are sharpened frequently following the manufacturers guidelines and are stored in a suitable environment which is neither harmful to the knife, yourself or those around you •This knife is not Dishwasher Safe •This knife may only be sold to persons of 18 years or more

Not again! April 10, 2007 William K. James (Cambridge) 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
These are fairly great knives; however, I have now had three, and sadly now have none. Each has suffered the same fate; after two or three years the join between the handle and the blade becomes brittle and then just snaps. I believe that I may be at fault as on occaision the knife has ended up in the dishwasher (something that I recall that you are not supposed to do). What appears to happen is that the joint corrodes (I assume from the dishwasher powder) and this is what causes the brittleness. If you are prepared to hand wash and dry your knives each time you use them then fine, in a busy family kitchen this is a bit of a luxury and if something cannot be bunged in the dishwasher then it's not really very efficient. I have had a set of woooden handled Sabatiers for over 20 years (not much of the wooden handles left) but the blades and handles are stil in fine form. I also have a Plastic handled Henkels which has been going strong for 10 years; sharpens like a dream and has a weight and strenght along the back that is unbeatable. My other problem with Global's is that they lack any sense of rigidity and weight - this is fine for show chopping where a thin blade and back will make you look very good; however, as soon as the going gets tough they lack (imho) the necessary muscle. The acid test for any big knife is how you feel cutting a swede in half! I have now replaced my global bread knife with the Henkels and while it certainly does not look as pretty it is certainly as sharp and goes in the dishwasher without complaining.
Excellent bread knife December 7, 2005 Jon Wickham (Guernsey) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've had this knife for 2 years now and it still cuts through any bread like a hot knife through butter.
