Just a light bulb? November 14, 2003 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
From the illuminated genius of Mathmos (who gave us Brits the lava lamp) comes the Aduki. No ordinary light, the Aduki is a small, colour changing blob of luminesence. Made from sturdy metal underneath and soft plastic atop it comes in a variety of colour cycling choices: Red/Green, Blue/Red, Green/Blue. After a whopping initial charge of 18 hours the aduki will give up to 6 hours of lumination. After that it takes about 12 hours to recharge and, being cableless, can be put anywhere. It is ideal for such locations as: The living room – for a chill out session when there’s nothing on telly. The boudoir – create a better atmosphere than your usual 100 watt. The dining room – romantic dinner? Better than candles. The kids’ room – suitable to be used as a night light. The garden – stay out after dark on the long summer evenings. It can be stood (or hung) outside but I like mine too much to let it get rained on. The Aduki seems expensive for a fancy light bulb but it is, at once, both fascinating and pretty, more practical than a lava lamp and will last a long time (up to 1000 recharges). Recommended.
