Amazon.co.uk Review Morphy Richards' robust Opera Cordless Jug kettle has all the features you need in a reliable modern kettle and a bit more besides. This easy-to-use, rapid boil kettle benefits from twin illuminating water gauges. Once you've flicked the easy to use on/off switch to "on" you can tell the level of water in the jug, at a glance. What's more, you don't need to worry if there's only enough for a single cup as this model is able to boil small quantities of water. In an unusual combination of modern and retro, the opera cordless jug kettle emits a short whistle as it boils, a wild leap of imagination would suggest that this is where Morphy Richards got the "opera" part of the kettle's name from. This kettle's chunky modern design is both stylish and practical; its 360-degree cordless operation makes it easy to use for both right and left-handed people and its concealed element has been designed with easy cleaning in mind. The useful addition of a spout filter also ensures water quality is high and limescale is kept out of your drinks. The kettle's pearlescent silver finish provides a welcome flourish to an everyday item. --Ben Curtis

Poor Quality August 2, 2008 budwalker I was very disappointed with this kettle - I expected good quality from such an established brand. It never switched off at the right time (either too soon or too late) and has now stopped working completely after only six months. As the saying goes "buy cheap buy twice", which is what I will now have to do.
When I hear that whistle blowin', I sing with joy June 4, 2008 Mr. P. J. Davies (NW. Wales, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great kettle. boils pretty fast and fairly quiet Whistle/siren, about 3 seconds long is useful if you're in another part of the house. Nice one and recommended. Thanks also to Amazon for fast delivery, cheers guys
A great kettle March 23, 2008 baltec (United Kingdom) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
A really nice kettle.I like the way you can switch this on and then go into another room and when the water boils, and switches of the kettle ,and alerts you with a whistle sound, which stops you having to keep checking to see if it has boiled.I also like the bright orange light when it is switch on,and by the way,you can switch the whistle of by turning the base over and inserting a pencel and sliding switch to off.I do agree that it doe's let steam out of the lid,but mine only done this at the start, and has started to decrease with use. When full it only takes less than 2 minutes to boil,so this is really fast,if you need a cup of tea/coffee in a hurry.Overall an excellent kettle.

I love this kettle - we've had one for more than a year now and no problems whatsoever. Im on here now buying one for a friend. Can I recommend that this is actually an excellent kettle if you have arthritis? It has a very easy open lid and is lightweight. Dont listen to the doubting Thomasinas of this world - its a great kettle!
Excellent jug kettle! September 11, 2006 Thebes1966 (Carlisle, England, UK) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Our previous jug kettle was blue and I was dying to get rid of it. I wanted the Opera Kettle to match the toaster as the blue one had blown up (I cheered). Actually bought the Opera from Argos for 19.99 which is way cheaper than Amazon at the moment. Therefore I had to review the kettle. Previous reviewers have commented on the steam coming from the lid and yes, I agree but mine seemed to calm down after using it a few times and the problem is not as bad as when it was first purchased. The main reasons for buying this kettle was the fact the previous one did not have a base, there was only one water gauge, the spout was too narrow...and it was blue. This new Opera was the complete opposite and the fact that the water lights up and it whistles when boiling...who cares? The spout is brilliant, it NEVER spills and the fact I can rotate it for use in either hand is great. This is one buy I have not regretted and it matches the bleeping toaster perfectly :-) No fingerprints over it and I find it very tactile, unlike the chrome ones that need cleaning all the time (my Brabantia storage jars a nightmare for this). So, yes I like this jug kettle and I suggest you buy one as they are quirky, unique and actually WORK! To boil a cup full of water in 40 seconds is brilliant!!!!
