OK - for a while January 14, 2008 charlie's mum (UK) We had this kettle for about 6 months, then the handle on the lid broke; not really what you'd expect from such a pricey model. Now I've looked at the other reviews here I can see that this is obviously a common problem. I wouldn't recommend.
Worst kettle in the world October 2, 2007 J. S. Galbraith (London) I purchased this kettle from Argos, within 2 months it was leaking water all over the worktop, so I returned it. One other point was the stay warm function could not be disabled on this kettle which makes it an environmental nightmare, not sure if this was just a one off on my kettle or a problem across the range. It means that you had to be extra careful to remember to turn off at the mains, a few times I would get home from work and find the water in the kettle still almost warm enough to use - nightmare.
Nice kettle - Shame about the faults June 25, 2007 A. T. Hamilton (Falkirk, Scotland) We were given this kettle as a gift when we moved house and it look quite good, glowing blue in the night and red when boiling. Then the problems started. Firstly, the 'ON' switch wouldn't stay on for long then it would stay on when the kettle boiled, finally it started leaking from the windows on both sides, resuling in a large pool of water on the worktop - luckily it didn't leak onto the swivel connectors! I have found that most kettles with 'water level indicators' leak eventually, but this was extra fast.
Russell and Hobbs 11650 Stainless steel Jug Kettle June 11, 2007 J. Harris (Spain) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product in May 2006. In March 2007 the lid broke. The wraps around the screws had melted and so the whole lot fell to bits. I complained and in fairness to Russell and HObbs they did send a nother lid. However, a couple of weeks later I found a puddle of water every morning and every time I used it. Water then started to leak at the bottom of the side plastic glow bit of the kettle. Russell and Hobbs wont do anything as I bought and live in Spain, however after reading all these other problems....there is a problem with some of their kettles. I think the whole thing is overheating and therefore melting some of the components inside causing the wraps of the screws to melt and the kettle to leak. I have had really cheap kettles in the past that have last this 3 times longer...only thing they didnt look that great...but, Im back to buying cheaper!
DEFINITELY - Not worth the price November 15, 2006 Naomi (Glasgow, Scotland) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After usually spending about 5 on kettles, we got a new kitchen and wanted a cool kettle to go in it. Even though it is much more expensive than we're used to, this one seemed to fit the bill: - Nice looks, Lights up, keeps water warm etc. It lasted about 1 month before it started leaking then after about a year the lid handle fell off and we couldn't fill it. Very poorly designed and definitely not worth the money - wish we'd kept the receipt!
