Great value for money July 18, 2008 Julikat (London UK)
Bought this to replace an ancient toaster that burnt everything, and I have to say I'm very impressed. The toast is always evenly done, although if you put a single slice in, you'll find it's browner on one side than the other. You need to have 2 slices in for it to toast evenly. I'd have liked a 'cancel' switch to pop the toast up, but you have to turn the dial to zero - and then remember to turn it back up the next time. A small niggle, but a pop-up would have been useful. But for 20,(which is what I paid when Amazon stocked it), I can't really complain. It's great value and does exactly what it's supposed to do - toasts!
no longevity January 12, 2008 Mrs. C. A. Skelton-ruth (notts uk) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
my last toaster lasted ten+ years...this one didn't manage 18 months before emitting blue sparks. Never did a good job of toasting anything either.
Excellent Toaster September 1, 2007 J. J. Boulton (Middlesex, England) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I wanted a plain toaster with no bells or whistles. This is exactly that and makes the best toast I have ever eaten. It's simple to use and easy to clean out afterwards because it's very lightweight. I cannot praise it highly enough and at 10 its astonishingly good value.
Good Compact Machine March 30, 2007 S. Ramsey 42 out of 42 found this review helpful
An excellent toaster which really does evenly toast whatever you put inside it and the outside stays completely cold. The main reason I bought this was because my disabled mother found that she couldn't manage either a button or lever to cancel the toasting, on other models I'd bought. On this model she can quite easily turn the dial to zero and the toast pops up for her to check. The level to pop the toast back down is also a better shape for her hands. This is a very unobtrusive toaster which is unusual for a 4-slice model. My last one was a monster and took up far too much valuable space in my small kitchen. Top marks to Philips and also Amazon for a great price.
