Avoid at all costs June 8, 2008 Mike Woodward (Herts, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We liked the design; after our first one blew up after 15 months we looked around but ended up buying another. Guess what; 15 months later and that one too has now broken. Nice to look at, but that's it for Russell and Hobbs I'm afraid.
DON'T BUY IT !!!! April 23, 2008 Mr. Iain Sloane (Surrey, UK) Bought one about 2 1/2 years ago (along with the matching kettle). Looked great in the kitchen. It was only lightly used (say 2-3 slices of toast / week) but it still died a couple of months outisde of the warranty period. Russel Hobss did not want to kow about replacing it. I assumed that I had been unlucky and (as I still liked the design and wanted to match my kettle) bought an identical replacement. I must be in the "slow learner group". Second version of same died after 8 months of equally light use. I just don't know Russel Hobbs can screw-up such a low-technology item - but they have managed. No more Russell Hobbs for me - ever!! I have bought another brand as a replacement
The Trabant of Toasters April 8, 2008 Mr. Andreas Knight Over priced lump of glass and metal...May look like a winner on your polished kitchen worksurface but after 18 months light use, it has ended up short circuiting our electricity supply...a danger to man and beast...avoid
Very bad value for money March 17, 2008 E. Walker (Suffolk) I bought this with the matching kettle, and it looks nice very nice in my kitchen. BUT for 50 I'd expect it to last more than 16 months!! Mine too as suffered an electronic failure so the lever to put the bread down with doesn't stay down and all the buttons have stopped working. Very annoying to have to buy another toaster after such a short space of time, that's 50 down the drain! I certainly won't be buying any more Russell Hobbs appliances!
Didn't last long March 13, 2008 Anna Charnley I bought this toaster a little under 2 years ago, and like the others it worked beautiully at first. The browning seemed to get less even after a year or so, and now it won't pop up when it's ready - seems to be a fault with this toaster, reading other reviews.
