5 out of 5 stars Valuable addition to the kitchen   April 28, 2008

I have owned this item for around 6 months now and it has, in that time, become one of the most used items in my kitchen.

It is heavy, which can make it slightly difficult to empty out the contents when it is full, but that means nothing sticks to the base when it is in use. I cannot rate this highly enough.

5 out of 5 stars It's simple - you get what you pay for!   April 14, 2008

Just to add to the other reviews...

This is an excellent, if slightly heavy pan.

It has some wonderful features.

The "all the way round" pouring lip is a great bonus, and saves drips and mess in the kitchen.

The sides are nice and high and so are perfect for risotto etc.

The heat distribution is awesome.

The non stick is tough, reinforced with stainless steel and has a 10 year guarantee.

The pan also looks ace!

So, it looks good, is excellent and practical to use; easy to clean and comes with an incredible 10 year non stick warranty.

And that, in my opinion, makes it good value for money.

~~~~~~
I have now used the pan for quite a few meals, my only comment is that the bottom of the pan, (the outside bottom of the pan) has scratched quite badly where it has been moved around on the supports on my gas hob. Not a big deal, but if you hang pans up in the kitchen it's worth knowing this can happen.
Not easily impressed, this is my first stainless pan purchase after years of using Meyer's Analon pans. I wanted to use metal whisks etc for de-glazing and blending sauces and I've become a little irritated at not being able to truly clean the insides of the Analons, thereby re-achieving 'non-stickability'.
WOW ! Three meals in, I can honestly say that this pan truly rocks. With a gas stove, I wanted to have the confidence of an even temp. without burning and with the TriVita wrapping right up the sides of this saute pan {unlike many other v.good pans, which just have the layering at the base !}, there are NO hotspots at all. It's solid without being heavy -about the weight of the Analons but no where near the cast iron brutes. A spanish Fabada was my first test. Well, I wasn't ready for the excellent speed and heat retentiveness of the Le Creuset and nearly burned the garlic, onion and chrizo with the lid on. A wine de-glaze was easy and the snug fitting lid braised like a dream. On Sunday, I tried frying bacon, eggs and bread {I know}. The results were good, esp. the 'golden' fried bread but this is not what it was really made for. Finally, I tried a quick saute of smoked cod in butter, followed by a poaching in cream and dill and it was perfect. No scorching at all and held a really nice temp. even after the gas was turned off!
All-in-all, this is a pleasure to use AND CLEAN. The metal lid is snug and the pouring rim is drip free. I highly recommend this saute pan and just wish it was made in Sheffield.
