I used this machine a lot when I was younger and living with my parents. Came back from a year in South America with a load of top Colombian coffee and the machine was still going and making the best tasting coffee I've had in a home.
The taste of coffee from this machine is surprisingly good considering that it uses a simple drip method through the coffee held in the holder but the coffee can be packed tight in the holder to cause the hot water to filter through the grain with a higher pressure than allowed by filter machines.
The strength of the coffee can be varied and the strongest is full, dark and rich in flavours. It is very clean and is capable of frothing milk but I prefer to drink the coffee alone.
Revisiting my parents three years later, the machine is still going and I miss the taste of coffee from this machine even compared to that from more expensive filter machines, the Krups 100 model for example.
I was very surprised to see its only 11. For that price it is certainly better than a cafetiere and filter type makers. Unfortunately it only makes one cup a time, <5 minutes from cold. I would recommend this maker for those who like using filter coffee, only need it for themselves. If 35 pounds is not a lot more, De'Longhi has a newer, similar model that provides 14 bar pressure.
