Beware - Amazon Description Wrong January 19, 2008 Mark Twain (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
At the time of writing this (19-1-08) Amazon is describing this item as including the stainless steel toolkit. It doesn't - it has the grey-painted aluminium tubeset, and a reduced number of accessories in the toolkit. The stainless steel toolkit is 'Kit: A1' This comes with 'Kit: NPH1' (aluminium) You can see the difference in tools on http://numatic.co.uk/products4.asp?id=29 - download the 'cleancare accessories catalogue' pdf near the bottom of the page. The top picture in the pdf ('JV1' toolkit) is actually what you get (same as 'NPH1'). The next pic down is the A1 stainless kit. Numatic says on that page that the standard toolkit is 'A1' (stainless), and shows that toolkit in the images - yet quotes 'Kit: NPH1' at the bottom of the page next to the order code. So be careful - if you want the stainless tools, don't order this one from Amazon at present. Tried my best to tell Amazon about this - but just get automated email replies telling me a new one has been ordered (had two delivered now with aluminium tubes - intend to return both) or get connected to a call centre in the Phillipines staffed by people with poor English who can't do anything but tell you that 'Amazon won't send you the wrong one twice'. I haven't used it for vacuuming yet (since it's going back) but a quick play with it indicates build quality and suction are impressive; it's quiet, not that heavy, and follows you around quite well without falling over. The bags are plenty large enough for normal use, and quite cheap. I've heard a lot of good things about these little fellas, and the ability to get parts if anything goes wrong is a major plus - a friend is just about to throw away a 3 year old (and little-used) Miele vacuum because the motor has stopped working and there are no parts available to repair it ('sealed unit' - new motor: 90+). Miele are currently claiming on their website: "We design our vacuum cleaners to last 20 years...". - I wonder if that's why they don't make spares for them ...? ;-)
The Harley of Vaccums at half the price of a Roller! January 1, 2008 C. Muscillo 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The last time I purchased a Henry I used it for a couple of years and then sold it to my farther because I was moving home. After a long moving process I finally settled in and over the next few years I purchased many hoovers. Most seem to last a couple of years max. Then I remembered Henry... Standing at a couple of feet in height this modern marvel is in my opinion is undersold. This baby will not only clean your carpet but will be excellent on hard floors also. Its a little hard to push on carpets and you will have to work as hard as the machine for the result but you do actually get the result you want. If you hand wash a car then you use a cloth to buff the wax you woul not expect to get a shine by simply lighty rubbing would you? The same with Henry..it will take work to get the results, buy where this cleaner differes from many others is that the results are almost constantly guaranteed. And yes the machine comes with a guarantee and a few bags to get you started. They even have a bag fitted in the machine for when you get it home. And as for setting up I did mine in a few minuets with no need for a screw driver. So why Henrey? Well one very good reason is that as I work in schools I noticed the majority of care takers use them. Now anyone who lives in the uk will know that schools here have a tight budget and no self repecting caretaker would ever consider buying a product that was going to break in a couple of years after purchase. The henry is prehaps the manistay of cleaners/ care takers across the uk. Not all but many will vouch for this. A long cord, a suction from hell and we have Henry. The only thing I would say is that the elderly may find it hard to use owing to the push power needed across carpeted floor.
Henry 2nd Cometh November 12, 2007 P. Rose (West Sussex, England) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am a builder and this little fella is an integral part of my setup. My first Henry lasted 3 years but boy did he take some punishment on site! I cannot recommend Henry enough. Robust, reliable and very powerful. If it works on a building site...imagine how it will perform in your home. Buy with absolute confidence!
The Henry August 21, 2007 Sheila (Sussex, England) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
When my old hoover finally stopped, I asked several people what vacuum cleaner they would recommend. The Henry came very high up on the list, so four years ago I bought one. Sadly, the motor blew up a few months ago, so this is the replacement. It is sturdy, works well and is generally more reliable than other makes, but it is not easy to store away and takes a lot of room.
Fantastic vacuum cleaner - does what it says on the tin! July 26, 2007 KKK7 (London) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This range of vacuum cleaners is the best we've ever bought mainly because it has never let us down and is so easy to service. Its not too heavy either or laden down with new technology (which after some point breaks) so there's less to go wrong. Its used commercially by many companies which gives an indication of its reliability. Excellent!
