The Senseo is well made, well built and well designed. It does what it's supposed to do and reduces coffee making to a very simple process.
Trouble is, the end result is that it produces *something* - just not coffee as I know it...
The servings are tiny, in fact I was hard pushed to find a mug that would fit under the nozzle. The coffee is watery and lukewarm, and you're basically restricted to the mediocre coffee pods that Philips and Dowe Egberts 'allow' you to use. In order to get a full mug of decent strength coffee you have to use two pods. The 'cream head' they claim you can get with this? Not crema by any stretch of the imagination.
To give the senseo a second chance, I tried it with one of those little coffee holders that you put your own coffee in. The results were even worse, so I gave up and got myself a proper coffee maker. A bit more doing and cleaning involved, but infinitely better coffee.

This machine is great! It took a little time to prepare and longer to find the coffee pods that I like best but now it is FAB!! I made a few errors like putting the wrong pad holder in for a cup not a mug and managed all sorts of silly things like that, but hey I was hungover!
Def. recommend this to everyone!

WAS TOLD COFFEE MACHINE WOULD SAVE MARRIAGE. DID NOT. I HATE THIS "MACHINE" AND "COFFEE" NOT IMPRESSIVE SUBSTANCE EITHER - LIKE BROWN WATER BUT DOESNT TASTE LIKE WATER. PREFER MY WATER CLEAR AND COLD FROM THE TAP - DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE SPEND MONEY MAKING IT BROWN AND HOT.
TERRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY. COFFEE IS TERRIBLE. HOWEVER I GIVE IT THREE STARS BECAUSE IF YOU LIKE COFFEE (UNLIKELY) THIS MAY BE USEFUL TO YOU.

After reading reviews for various coffee pod machines I was apprehensive about spending 50+ for something, once the novelty had worn off that would clutter up a shelf. With the Senseo coming in at 25 it was cheap enough to take the plunge. I must say I am delighted with the machine. The coffee is hot and different combinations of pod/pods, 1-cup 2-cup can be used to get a strength to suit most people. The greatest asset is the simplicity of this machine. No jugs and filters to clean and a start and finish time of about 90 secs for a mug of coffee. This plus supermarkets are producing their own pods which work in the Senseo makes this an excellent buy.

Great price from Amazon. I opened the box, followed the flushing instructions and brewed a cup. Nice hot coffee.
(There is a lot of negative comments about cold coffee but it can only be from folks who do not let it flush a 1st cup of water through).
Not too impressed with Douwe Egberts Sumatra coffee - but there are plenty other brands to try.
Simple and a very good price.
