Great price. Some little niggles but impressed July 22, 2008 Turbohat (Wirral, UK) Have to say that this stand is excellent value. Good size and the tapered rear corners make it easy to fit in a recess at an angle. Lots of storage (mine now holding 37" TV, 2x DVD players, Sky+, huge amp, Xbox360, HDDVD player and Wii with room to spare) Like the open back and sides as it helps cooling. No cable tidys but who can complain at this price..... Now the niggles. As the previous reviews say the instructions say the rods are "handed" they are not. You have to not screw them in as far as they go (feels very counterintuitive) otherwise there's nothing for the feet to "bite" into. Some of the end caps on the legs are a bit poorly finished but a little bit of a push and tidy of the plastic and all is well. Assembly is easy but I recommend having 2 people as the huge slabs of glass have to be lowered over the 4 rods (I managed to do this on my own as my wife is 8 months pregnant - but it was tricky) The main area to be careful of is when turning the unit over (you assemble it upside down). The glass panels are drilled and there are no rubber washers on the holes, so when you lift it over you can hear the metal pushing against the glass and it it feels as if it could crack. I'd recommend 2 people again and lifting it fully over rather than pivoting. That said, it is amazing value compared to the tat peddled by the likes of Arg*s.
Excellent June 19, 2008 Happy Bunny (London) I'm going to be short and sweet, excellent Value for money, please see reviews below for more details.
Great VFM but just four small problems June 9, 2008 Antony Avella (London) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I deliberated on the purchase of this stand for some time, as I was a little concerned about the price - and wasn't sure if I was willing to risk a 1000 tv on shaky foundations. However I was finally swayed by the many positive comments it had received from happy Amazon customers. Nestled amongst the feedback were a couple of reviews which mentioned that the metal spokes (which in effect hold the whole thing together) were cut too short, I assumed that as this was only mentioned a couple of times out of nearly 30 reviews it was either "user interface" trouble or they were just unlucky - I decided to take my chances. The components themselves look decent and there's nothing too complicated about putting the thing together, however I too found that there was a very real design fault with the metal rods in that although the diagram showed them to have two very disctinct ends with slightly different threading, both ends of each of the four rods were exactly alike. When the whole thing was put together, the rods were simply not long enough, and the end caps (which act as feet for the stand and hold the rods in place) had nothing to bite onto. I had to slightly loosen rods in order to complete the unit and it seems to be fairly sturdy, but it certainly isn't the kind of flaw that you'd expect for any unit whether it was 50 or 500. I have given it a decent star rating because the finished product looks good and for the money I would still recommened it. I am in the process of contcating the manufacturer to try and get replacement rods as I am still nervous about by TV toppling off.
Excellent stand - bargain price May 7, 2008 Mr. Mark Irvine (Oxford, UK) I can only endorse the previous reviews of this stand. It was simple to build - looks just as good as stands I've seen in other electrical stores costing three or four times as much - and my new 42' plasma fits on it perfectly without overhanging. Great bargain.
best value plasma stand available April 29, 2008 M. A. Bennett (Wiltshire,England.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I cannot recommend this product highly enough. Bought to replace wobbly Argos unit which cost similar amount. This fits my 42" plasma perfectly (would also accomodate a 50" but would overhang sides), and has ample shelf space for full width dvd players/av amps sitting side by side (or even stacked 2 high). This despite the rear corners raked for alcove/corner placement. The stand is easily assembled without tools and is as sturdy as my other wider Alphason 300.00 stand which holds my 50" plasma(although glass not as thick still perfectly solid). Super saver delivery was fast and was left with neighbour as I wasn't in.
