I recently purchased a different bread bin prior to this one- great -less than 7 & looks brilliant- made of wood. However, I had the impression that bread would get a bit too warm inside it, so I decided to purchase this Typhoon one.
I am keeping the Typhoon bread bin in spite of some problems with the lid, as it's heavy & therefore would be costly to return, and I'm hoping that the actual bin itself will keep bread fresher than my current all wood one.
Bin looks great inside- a nice creamy pale green.There are 4 "pinholes" above the handle on each side for ventilation.I think & hope bread will keep fairly fresh inside. Having put bin on shelf, I found was not over-keen on the "BREAD" label. I wondered if it might be removable, but it looks like a stencil was used when the bin was spray painted. The grey of the word "BREAD" is just the unpainted metal.I decided to turn the bin around & then I noticed that the sides of the bin were buckled. It's not that bad- more obvious on the back of the bin than on the front ( where is written "BREAD").
What I was disappointed with was the lid- It fits fine. However, I decided to rinse it with a little water pre use in case there was any dust. The surface of the wood lifted up & gave a soft fury surface. Hardly cosmetically pleasing, nor hygenic if one was to use to cut bread on. Also I sustained a splinter from the lid ( from the edge of the lid board. I've since in desperation, sanded down & oiled the board. It seems a bit better.
I have the bin sitting relatively out of sight.
If I'd known I would not have bought. Still I'm hoping it will be good in terms of keeping things fresh.

Very pleased with this, I have always liked typhoon products. We have had this bread bin for a week and the bread is still very fresh. Looks fab in our kitchen and sits perfectly amongst our other utensils. Forget other bread bins, purchase this one.

I am a huge Typhoon fan, and own many of their products. As a bread bin this is brilliant. It has a built in chopping board on the lid which is extremely practical, although you have to be careful not to cut the bread too hard as you will get cut marks on the lid which spoils the look. The bin itself is a great size and I have been unable to find any loaf that doesnt fit!! I know Typhoon kitchenware is expensive compared to other brands on the market, but the majority of their products are built to last.
