Ideal for a novice July 11, 2008 diggy (South Coast, England) Bought one of these a week ago and love it. It's easy to use, just chuck the ingredients in and walk away. The recipies supplied are good and the bread tasty. This machine was rated top by Which? magazine but buy it from the co-op online - I got mine new for 46.50 with no p&p!
Average machine - poor customer care April 28, 2008 K. Shaw 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is my 6th breadmaker. I bake bread daily and none have lasted more than 2 years. Some better than others. This machine has lasted 6 months. Morphy Richards customer care has been appalling. The machine comes with a 2 year warranty but Morphy Richards make it as difficult as possible to replace. The problem has been like most other e-mails - a loud clunk then the paddle stops turning. Thank goodness for Amazons excellent customer care! The unfortunate thing is they are replacing the machine with another Morphy Richards. Definately won't buy anything made by Morphy Richards again.
enjoy until breaks down April 22, 2008 martin2008 (England, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this breadmaker a fortnight ago, stylish, with a window, timer, all seemed good features for the money... Baked good bread, I was very happy with it ... until last sunday it wouldn't start, the blade wouldn't move... disaster, no fresh bread for dinner... Never had an appliance that only lasted a fortnight, went back to the shop on monday for a refund. I'll never buy anything with the Morphy Richards logo again!
Good to use but doesn't last April 20, 2008 Jeff (uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I must say that when this machine works, it works well and makes tremendous bread! However, it's far from reliable. After 4 months, there was a loud 'clunk' at base of pan when it was switched on. Nothing turned. Eventually [don't bother sending MR an email - takes forever] they sent new pan. Then all went well until - another 4 months - same thing again. I'm still waiting for MR's response but I'm not optimistic. One other thing - if you have this on a worktop, as I guess most people do, you'll find it almost impossible to read the display. I'm 5'8" and have to stretch, so, if you're less than that, be aware!
Avoid like the plague March 23, 2008 P. Turp (Peterborough, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Admittedly we bought this on the basis of its price at the time. We simply could not afford a more expensive breadmaker and we have 'got what we paid for'. It has lasted less than a year before it simply failed and faced with the cost of returning the item we've ditched it. I will say the fastbake loaf always worked for us and on that basis it is fine BUT I could never get it to bake a 'normal' loaf, the paddle rarely folded down and when the problems started it was not worth the time. We will now go for a more expensive model - the Panasonic makers are highly recommended by my brother.
