Terrible, April 5, 2008 Jay (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the worst blender I have ever owned. After about 2 weeks it started to leak through the bottom and all over the counter. Also cleaning it was a real pain. You have to take the whole thing apart which is a real drag. Do yourself a favour and don't buy this product. I will never buy another blender that has a pourer. All it adds is extra things to break and clean. At the end of the day who cares which part of the blender you pour from...
Excellent March 31, 2008 Christopher Morgan (Liverpool, England) What a great machine. Having fallen for the healthy tasty smoothie breakfast craze I decided to invest in a smoothie maker to make my own at home and save money, I looked around and could not find better value than the Russell Hobbs. Firstly I have to question the other reviewers that said this smoothie maker leaks alot, there may have been a faulty batch or something but I do know from experience that if you do not assemble the parts in the correct order and ensure they are tight it may leak and badly. That said when you put it together correctly (which isnt at all difficult) mine has never leaked. Though I am not saying for fact the other reviewers put it together wrong its a strong possibility. In terms of functionality the machine is brilliant tearing through ice and frozen fruit with no trouble, another added benefit is the ease of cleaning and assembly. The machine has a large capacity and what I tend to do is make a large amount of smoothie and freeze some for a later day. All in all a great value smoothie maker buy one and enjoy.
Had to send it back as leaking March 10, 2008 mrsgooch2b (London) I would advise against buying this product. We were actually quite happy with it (but didn't know any different as this was first smoothie maker) until it started to leak all the liquid out the bottom for no apparant reason. We sent it back anyhow and received a refund from Amazon which we spent on a different product. The Philips HR2094 and we are over the moon. It is slightly more expensive but it's of a much higher quality which you notice straight away. This Russell Hobbs one is made of plastic all over but this new Philips one has a glass jug and chrome base, the design is very good and it makes a much better smoothie that is, well, really smooth. It is also quieter and much easier to assemble and clean, most parts being dishwasher safe too. Thanks for reading!
Leakage!! January 5, 2008 KP (England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The smoothie maker from the very start was leaking out all the liquid content from the bottom. From reading that someone else had the same problem, it seems this isn't just a one-off. I would avoid buying this item as you may receive one that doesn't work properly! Very disappointing, particularly considering that it is made by such an established name as Russell Hobbs.
brilliant product - recommend January 4, 2008 Maggie (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just painstakingly typed a review and Amazon managed to lose it :-) but I will try again! Received this smoothie maker today and very impressed so far. Seems well made and has very clear plain English instructions with even a touch of humour! Other people have commented on size of machine and it is bigger than you might expect, but that is probably accounted for by need for robust motor unit and it does have large capacity jug. If you use small quantities (as in some of the recipes supplied) the stir stick is redundant as it does not reach the bottom of the jug but I shall just make larger quantities in future! Agree that you need to pulse the motor when using the tap (as they tell you to do)but that works very well. Will also use as a blender for soups etc as seems much better than the one supplied with my ancient Kenwood Chef. So far so brilliant - hope I will continue to have enough enthusiasm to clean it (which by the way is not particularly difficult, I'm just lazy!)
