Main defect is its performance in wind. Mine started to slip down the central pole. They replaced it but the new one did the same. The locking mechanism isn't adequate. Then on a fairly windy day one of the arms did a somersault and broke away from the hub. The guarantee doesn't cover wind damage, but I would say it's a design fault - wind is the main drying agent! It's now useless.
So if you experience winds, either don't hang out your washing or get traditional clothes poles.
