For running there is nothing better at this price July 2, 2008 Mister Denshi 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wow. These really do stay put. The in ear part is small enough to most people and the rubber buds are supplied in 3 sizes so even if you a freakish mutant like me you should be able to get a pretty good fit on both sides, which is nice. The other star feature is how the cables go into the earhook part, so if you tug them they don't pull the phones straight out of your ears. The sound is not the best, there isn't much in the way of bass - enough for indie / rock / country maybe, but for dance or urban styles you will very likely be disappointed. Additionally, if you don't get them in your ears far enough you get almost no bass at all and they do sound tinny and cheap. And use your mp3 player's "treble reducer" rather than "bass booster" EQ setting :)
Sound quality is very poor February 23, 2008 E. L. Molnar (Fleet, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just received my new Phillips SHS89001/00 headphones and am really disappointed. They fit in the ear nicely, and unlike some they stay there. However, the sound quality is absolutely appalling. If you want quality sound, stay away from these.
Comfortable & compact with great sound January 11, 2008 Michelle (Berkshire, UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
These are the white version of the black Philips SHS8000 (which I also own). They are both very comfortable and easily stay put while I dance energetically. They sound very good for such compact headphones - much better than my ipod headphones. I bought the black pair as Which? gave them the highest rating for sound of any compact plug headphones in their trial - 4/5. Which? also gave them 5/5 for preventing sound leakage (in or out). They come with 3 sizes of removable earpads which stay put but are reasonably easy to remove to change the size. Which? gave two other earplug headphones 4/5 for sound - the Sennheiser CX 300 and the Denon AH-C350. Which? said the Sennheiser were as good as the Philips in every respect except that the Sennheiser's allowed more sound in and weren't as easy to use. Which? said the Denon's were as good as the Philips in every respect except that the Denon's were a bit better fit, but a bit less comfortable!
Don't waste money on Philips earphones July 21, 2007 Mr. W. Da Costa (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
My young son saved up for these great looking earphones. PROBLEM They sounded great but, the lousy ear buds too easily came apart from the earphones and were lost INSULT TO INJURY Philips customer service were useless; completely uninterested; they don't stock repacements, "goodbye". OUTCOME Don't waste your money on Philips earphones.
Has potential but annoying to maintain!!! June 27, 2007 Richard Acquaye (London, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
These earphones work really well with Philips MP3 players like the GoGear 1620 and pcs. The headphones grip the ear very well and can be used for jogging or other activities but sometimes the earphone needs to be pushed into the ear because it may slip off because of earwax in the ear. This earphone delivers superb sound quality. Its quite annoying to maintain because the rubber earphone buds go missing and its hard to find the right ones that fit this model. also you'll have to make sure no liquid spills on it because that can affect the earphone.
