Wacom v Aiptek October 7, 2008 Ms. Y. Buzko (london) I just knew this was too good to be true! I've been using Wacom tablets for years and now wanted to move onto an A4 version but since it's around 350 pounds I searched for alternatives. Well, the 600U is here, and personally it's nowhere even close to a Wacom. I have nothing bad to say about the size, quality or the slimness but honestly, how hard do you have to press the pen to get anything out of it? It really frustrates me. I had to nearly lie down on it to make it draw properly, and there's extremely limited adjustment available. From the lowest to the highest value of pressure I couldn't feel the difference at all. I will be saving for the Intuos now, this is a disappointment.
Brilliant for value and quality August 30, 2008 Richard Stowey (Bristol, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the first tablet i have owned. I have always dabbled with the idea of purchasing a Wacom, even sitting in an Apple store for an hour trying it out. I was unable to justify spending the kind of money Wacoms are for the size so i purchased this little beauty. I recieved it through the door and before long i managed to plug it in and get it working. I am using Windows Vista on a Sony Vaio and it works pretty nicely. My screen is just a little bit bigger than the tablet. I use this for the odd bit of illustrative work i have to do when doing website design and product design. I dont think that the surface is as pressure sensitive as a Wacom, but it's still pretty good and the board translated the movement of the pen into accurate movements on the screen. That's all that matters really. I was comparing the tablet to the Wacom Bamboo which was about a similar price, but the small size was an offputting feature, especially when i create broad strokes which need a lot of room. I would say that if you're going to replace your mouse with this then get a Wacom Bamboo, but if you're going to use it in combination with a mouse and solely for drawing, and need the larger surface area, then this is your best bet! I have found the macro buttons around the side to be a bit useless as the keyboard shortcuts are quicker with my left hand... and the pen holder is a little bit crappy - The poor quality in the holder material means that everything sticks to it. But these points don't matter too much. It's brilliant! I just wish i had time to use it a little more!
Comment from an first time tablet user July 27, 2008 Michael Jay (Berks, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I had recently been looking to buy a tablet so i could do all the cool stuff one can do with such a tablet (mainly just to mess about to fill the spare time). As i am not a professional nor employed *cough* student, i could not justify the high prices that tablets such as those of the wacom variety demand so i settled for this. I was slightly hesitant as to the quality of the tablet due to the low price and the several some what negative reviews here on amazon, however saying that I went ahead and purchased this tablet. Now, you must take what i say with a pinch of salt as i've had no experience with other tablets, so i can't comment relative to other tablets on the market. But, I am impressed with the tablet. The build of the tablet itself is as expected for the price but it doesn't feel all that cheap. There's a nice weight to it. It is quite responsive both in how long it takes to draw on the screen and the pressure sensitivity. It's quite capable of picking up even the slightest movement. The pen, again, is as expected. There's a cheapness to the plastic used but the weight of the battery compensates somewhat for this. I must also add I'm impressed by receiving with this tablet, 2 replacement nibs, an AAA battery and a pen holder (which resembles a door stop!). For a tablet this cheap I wouldn't expect such extras. I have come across one fault (and one other criticism) which is why i'm not giving it 5 stars and only 4. There's a certain area of the tablet where SOMETIMES the cursor will jump to another part of the screen. To return to its original position, just remove the pen from the tablet, wait a second and then place the pen back onto the tablet. It's slightly annoying, but not overly so. After all, i'm not returning it! The criticism is the lack of decent documentation/software or info on the web. It's not rocket science to set this thing up, so it's not a major deterrent in buying one of these, but it would be nice to receive a decent manual. In conclusion, you get what you pay for. I think this is excellent for the money i paid and i don't regret it for a minute. I'm sure the Wacom tablets are better, but for the prices involved that would hardly be a suprise. I think this is an excellent tablet overall and i'd recommend it to anyone who wants an entry level tablet.
Works great with my new iMac July 9, 2008 Mr. D. J. Moody (England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Was a bit sceptical on buying a tablet that wasn't by Wacom but not anymore. It was extremely easy to set up and works so easy. Its nice and light so I can take it with me and use on my mac book pro when I go back to Uni in September. Can't moan about the price either. I paid a bit extra to get it next day and sure enough it arrived before 12 today. Comes with 2 spare nibs as well which makes a nice change. Not going to go in to much detail but as a first user tablet it performs great with no lag in touch to screen at all. So if you need a tablet, buy this one today.

After a long search for an A4 tablet, looking through problem after problem on other tablets, I found this. It's the only tablet I could find without some flaw that made me think again. It has handy little quick launch buttons you can program things into eg. CTRL+Z, mozilla quick launch, Photoshop quick launch, Word etc. The pen is surprizingly light considering it has an AAA in it (comes free with it too). Only a touch heavier than the Wacom Volito2 pen. Changeable paper behind a protective strip so you can put any picture you want in there (A4). The only thing I will mention is that in Photoshop there's occaisionally a slight delay. Overall very nice tablet. Best I could find for less than 100.
