The best mouse I've ever used November 10, 2008 Jel (UK) I bought this mouse in December 2007 and since then I haven't used any other mice willingly. The fact that you can plug it into any other computer and it will work and have your profiles saved on it, ready to use means that you don't have to use any other mice. I like it because it is big and fits my rather large, wide hands very well; the thumb rest is very nice and the grip is designed so that my fourth and little fingers don't just rub on the mouse mat like with other mice. This also allows me to use it for hours on end without the usual cramp in my hand from gripping a small, badly designed mouse like most people have. The wheel is fantastic: by pressing a button on the under side of the mouse you can switch between ratchet scrolling (where there is a definite click between each line of scrolling) and a freely rotating wheel. This means you can effortlessly scroll through large documents in seconds by just flicking the wheel and letting it spin. The Profiles work very well indeed, allowing you to program each of the 8 customisable buttons to do what you want in five different profiles. The DPI range is greater than any mouse I've seen and can be adjusted in finer increments, so you can tailor the responsiveness for many different applications. Speaking of which, if you're as lazy as me you can set the mouse to detect which application you are using and change the profile accordingly. Unfortunately having this feature active means that you can no longer manually change profiles until you have turned it off so you will have to program every application into the mouse or it will revert back to the default profile. Customisation couldn't be easier, you just select which function you want each button to perform from a drop down menu. Macros are easily written in the macro manager and the set point software (which you download free from Logitech) is very intuitive. The ability to add additional mass to your mouse is handy if, like me, you prefer something a bit heavier so it feels like you're actually holding something, rather than waving a flimsy bit of plastic around. All in all this mouse is put together very well and every feature it comes with is useful and intuitive.
Dead Aim October 3, 2008 Neil (PSN/Gamespy/Steam=enjoy76) (Liverpool, UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This mouse is an absolute gem. i like a wide grip and the G9 gave me that option. It is weight adjustable and comes with weights so my preference for a heavy weight feel is there. The greatest feature of this mouse is the adjustable DPI though which effects the mouse sensitivity, and the profiles you can set up. I have one profile for windows and then I use a gaming profile with 5 settings, so with an SMG, Shotgun or hip firing gun I can turn and fire on a six pence, but when sniping the dpi comes down and the telescopic sight moves smoothly to allow you precise aiming.
Excellence guaranteed September 21, 2008 P. W. Henderson (Northern Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Logitech G9 is my first every "gaming" mouse, and the most expensive mouse I have every purchased. Speaking to others on-line who have mixed opinions on it the basic problem seems to be too many options. They are lost fiddling with the weights, the selectable profiles etc etc. Basically this mouse will do anything you want a mouse to do, if you just get it to where you want it to be and then leave it alone. The weight is a case in point, just get it where it feels right moving from side to side and then put the little box in a cupboard. There are so many options available, including the ability to change the speed of movement up or down during game play, seperate movement rates for vertical and horizontal and profiles that can me made Game specific. In general day to day use it is also excellent as a profile can be set to accomodate office use. I may be a little biased as I am getting on very well with it but I think it is a work of pure genius and worth every penny. Just resist the temptation and don't fiddle too much..
So proud of the little mouse! March 25, 2008 Butters (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, where to start? I received it from Amazon the next day after ordering it, plugged it in and was off. It was so fast that I was taken back by it, then pressed all the buttens, downloaded the little accompanying programme, set it up and found that it had different settings for what speed you want it at. Found the weights and made it the right feel. Then, like every true male, glanced over the tiny manuel and found some actually useful tips. It can have several different profiles on its on board memory chip. I have 1 for gaming, 1 for work and 1 for general stuff. To get the best out of it, I adjusted the weights to make it feel comfortable with whatever activity I'm doing. I liked the fact that it came with two different covers for the mouse for the big hand or for the small hand. For gaming, it's fantastic, the speed, I put it to almost max, of it is seriously useful for when trying to kill spys in team fortress 2 as they are running round you. It's easy to keep trake of your enemies. For work, the setting makes it a little quicker to pull up files than a normal mouse and makes it feel slightly easier to work. Put it on the general setting, you can still set the speed you want and do whatever you have to do. There's not a lot you can say about mice but this one is definately the best I have had to use. There was one other important fact that I liked about this mouse and that wa the cord. It is slightly heavier than the normal wires on mouses and it means that you don't have to keep pulling the wires back up as it droops over the side of the desk. It seems to stay where you leave it. Also, I tend to tred on the wires of mouses and have broken a many by snapping it as i pull the mouse back to me, have done it a few times with this one and nothing. It still works a dream. I had to get a wireless one before, but now I don't need to change batteries whilst in a game ever again!!!! Best mouse out there!
Awesome CS March 19, 2008 plc143 (London) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In January 07 i bought a G7 from here, great mouse but not cheap. Started having problems with the left mouse button so gave CS a bell.they took me through a few things to try and fix it but no joy. By this time my one year warranty had expired. So what did Logitech do? did they tell me "hard luck m8 buy a new one" or "Sorry we cant do anything etc...etc..." NO they sent me this G9 FOC. This is one excellent mouse & you dont have to change batteries ;-) but the best thing is the customer service.
