5 out of 5 stars Logitech Support   July 19, 2008

Anyone uncertain over whether they should buy this product should do so with absolute confidence.

The support from Logitech is first class. When you do your set-up, the actual settings are all stored on a web-server. So, when you have a problem, you drop an email to Logitech support, who simply email you back within a few minutes / hours. However, this email does not tell you how to fix the problem - it actually tells you that the problem is fixed and all you have to do is simply update the Harmony One.

Its monkey-proof.

5 out of 5 stars Finaly   July 17, 2008

This is a decent universal remote and its about time. Set this baby in in less than 30 mins including all the clever activities settings wich used to take 3 remotes to watch a dvd

I needed to programme a few button funtion into the remote but again took no time at all

If your a tech freak like me with all the kit flat screen, hd tv, dvd, games console and surround sound to boot you need this to make your living room remote free

5 out of 5 stars It may look pricey, but it's worth EVERY penny!   July 7, 2008

This remote is fantastic. Most of the reviews state that the set up time is lengthy, and i fully agree with this. It took me an hour to set up 9 pieces of equipment and tailor the buttons to suit my needs, but it is such as great bit of kit when up and running.
With one button press it will turn on my TV, Satellite and Surround Sound, put the tv on the correct AV input, then turn down the TV so that it doesn't interfere with the surround speakers. This used to take three remotes (which were often going missing). It looks and feels great and the charging dock is really good quality. Get one!

5 out of 5 stars Genuinely great product   July 3, 2008

Having read numerous reviews for Learning IR remotes in the past, I was fairly sure that this remote would have the right buttons and controls, but was a little wary of how I would get on with the set-up via the Logitech software. However I couldn't have been more wrong. The software was quick to use and very simple to troubleshoot, plus given that I have some unusual equipment (Bose Lifestyle 48) connected in an unusual manner with separate IR volume controls I was really impressed with the way I could configure each key differently depending on the device I was controlling, OR the Activity I was using.

My main concern was that my family could use a single remote to automate some fairly complex equipment - now housed in a cupboard. This remote has made the job easy.

Some reflections on use are: -

a) You have to keep the remote pointed at the system for about 10 seconds for complex macros (such as turning on 3 or 4 devices plus setting the correct input channels etc) - which to start with does feel awkward. If you put the remote down on the arm of a sofa before it has finished then one device probably won't turn on and you have to select "devices" and then turn it on manually - but you learn quite quickly!

b) Performance is sketchy when the battery is at very low charge - so put the remote back on charge ever other night at least.

c) To get your system control PERFECT you will have to play with the software a little. Allow a couple of hours in total if your system is complex, although not in one go. But you can do most things if you try.

4 out of 5 stars cool gadget   June 23, 2008
S. Anaokar (London)
Giving this 4 stars cos' it basically does what it is suposed to ie. replace all existing remotes and make life easier (and tidier). Has a quality finish and looks good. Comments / advice:

* Shouldnt be too hard to set up if you are the gadget-type and like experimenting. If not, could take some time and effort and learning. But its worth it once done (also depends on how complex you wish your set up to be). Most of it can be achieved automatically.
* Doesnt replace all functions 100% (unless you have invested further in a manual set up) and can occasionally slip. But that's not a problem as the "help" button is indeed helpful and sorts things out rather intuitively.
* Prefer this one to the more expensive 1000 as its good to feel the buttons at your fingertips and navigate without having to look at the remote all the time. You will know what I mean if you have tried a LCD remote.

All in all....great gizmo, does the job really well and worth the dosh (doesnt control bluetooth devices).
