Top notch build quality, good ergonomics and great picture. This is first and for-most a no-nonsense work monitor from viewsonics professional VG range. Yes it has speakers, but you won't want to use them for anything musical. No usb ports, no headphone jack, no phono in, no hdmc, no sub-woofer, no i-pod docking, etc etc. Just a b***dy good panel on a solid and very adjustable mounting (including the all important height adjustment). This is certainly not a multimedia flash panel with a piano black bezel or brushed stainless knobs. So aside from the workaday appearance of the enclosure (which does have styling in a quiet way) it offers what you actually want, i.e. a good picture on an adjustable mounting so you can be looking at it in a comfortable way. This is after all what you need if you will be using this monitor during the day for extended periods (which is also why it has a matt finish to the screen and bezel, because reflections would cause eye strain). Though not marketed as a 'gaming' or 'multimedia' monitor, the screen does these things as well as any competitor with a fast response, good colour gamut (palette), and high contrast(Very little bleed seen on a black screen by the way). Therefore it has all round appeal. On a personal note, we have had this monitor for over a year and it has been great. It has heavy use, being active for around twelve hours a day as my wife works from home using this monitor on her internet business. It is a great product, which once we got use to the step up in screen size (from 17") and increase in resolution, we never looked back. Combine all this with the solid brand values of viewsonic and the 3-year warranty and this is a very good monitor for this price and size. One tip, viewsonic don't skimp on the cables as you get a VGA and DVI cable in the box along with the power cord and the phono jack connector for the speakers.
Good Value, possible problem in DVI mode November 11, 2007 Firestorm (Cirencester, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this screen to run with a new Dell Inspiron 530. Dell has an ATI radeon HD 2400 Pro video card. It works fine on analog mode, but use the digital DVI connection and althought the picture is sharper, it is rendered useless by random flickering pixels, mostly in dark areas of the picture. Bit annoying, but it was quite cheap. Reading up on google, there seem to be a few similar problems with Viewsonic screens. On the plus side, the stand is very good, with a quality rotating base and height adjustment.
Excellent value and performance October 4, 2007 Boffin Baz (Sussex, England) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
You couldn't get better than this. So simple to plug and play, and the CD installs everything you need at a touch of the button. I replaced and old Viewsonic 20" CRT with this sleek animal. The added bonus is that they supply an option two CP connection leads; one is CRT and the other DVI, so no expensive compter changes or adaptors. Someone moaned about the function buttons being to small and set away on the side, but unless you've got elephantine fingers, it's not a problem and feels rather high-tech. The screen is superb at 22" and the well-styled professionaly finished casing for such a great price was a suprise, even better--the screen can be moved up and down and side to side. A damn good buy in my honest opinion. Knocks the opposition at this price range into orbit.
