Generally poor May 8, 2008 J. Watts (South Devon) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This phone is nothing short of infuriating. I would strongly recommend you buy something else if you intend to use the second handset in a place where the walls between it and the base station are made of anything thicker than tracing paper! I have two handsets - one, the base unit, sits on a charger/stand plugged in to the phone socket inside the house. The second sits on a charger/stand in my garage (now converted to an office) which is about 5m from the base unit. It is supposed to pick up the signal from the base unit and is rated as having 50m internal coverage. No chance! However, the garage unit picks up enough signal to ring when I get an incoming call, but as soon as I answer it the call drops and I then have to go inside and pull the power on the base unit to reboot it before either handset will function again. With outgoing calls I can dial the number and it rings a couple of times before losing signal and needing a reboot. It would be better if simply doesn't work at all. To be fair the unit inside the house works better, although the sound quality is always poor and there is a lot of interference and echo. (Both are less than a year old.) I thought this was symptomatic of all cordless phones, until I used a friends panasonic (not sure of the model) - it was infinitely better. In this case the old saying is definitely true - you get what you pay for - so save yourself loads of frustration and hassle and don't buy one of these!!
a good start but no longevity April 29, 2008 cybertopps (cumbria, uk) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
had this phone just over a year, and at first everything went well. thought i'd got a real bargain, but as time has gone by, the quality of signal has degenerated - strange echos & static on the line. tried another phone on the line and everything is ok; plug this phone back in and the fault reappears. i know this isnt an expensive phone, but i'd expect better life-span than 12 months!
Good Little Phone February 29, 2008 David Yates (Surrey) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We've got three of these and have had little bother with them. They feel a little lightweight but they drop well (!). Battery lasts OK but they're rarely very long off the charger and we're not trying the problematic hour and a half long calls of another reviewer. Batteries if you do need to replace them are only AAA so don't need specialist replacements - one of our 3 was an ebay purchase which has had a new set. You can't wall mount which is a shame - the holder sits the phone at a funny angle. Phonebook is OK, caller ID picks the names up out of the list if it recognises it which is good. So....they're working well for us and I'd recommend them.
POOR QUALITY BUY AT YOUR PERIL!!!!!!! December 10, 2007 Clarry Been 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this phone a year ago and already have to replace it. Poor call quality, ease of use, battery life etc etc etc. Useless. Maybe I just had a faulty phone - but I will not be buying another.
Poor sound quality and very basic November 7, 2007 J. Oman (UK) 14 out of 18 found this review helpful
I know you get what you paid for and this is the case here. I wanted a basic phone but this has been a bad choice, looking back. i had this phone for 8 months now and had trouble with reception, sound quality, very limited talk time. i was in the middle of important calls (which admittedly took around 1.5 hours) and the phone will be beeping and finally will cut you off, as the battery dies. the base is too light and you have to keep it very steady. i cannot imagine how the phone would sit in its cradle were you to hang it on the wall - the slant is just awkward. not a good choice - i am now having to purchase new phone which can handle long and frequent calls and can be a bit more stable - spending more money in the end.
