pearl to your ears July 7, 2008 Gani Guven Turker (istanbul, Turkey) I've got these earbuds two weeks ago and enjoying it now very much. First I have difficulties with strong highs in some songs, however, when I set my ipod to sound check on the problem is solved with unwanted level of frequencies. I mostly listen house music with 320k bit rate. I tried several options to set the eq and I found the flat setting suited me the best. The base may not be as punchy for those who wants color, but lows are there without any doubdt. I'm looking for an upgrade to se530 maybe in a year, and I believe it will be awesome.
Fantastic sounding 'buds May 23, 2008 Typhoon (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Felt compelled to write a review of these earphones even though I bought them from another web site. Before buying the SE310s I researched as many websites as I could find about them, comparing them against similar earphones from other manufacturers in this price/quality range. I primarily use a Creative ZEN Vision:M with a pair of 30 Sony earbuds that are now suffering from years of use (the mid-range has completely gone). The difference in reproduction quality with the new SE310s is astounding. Why did I chose to buy these over other earphones. 1. The sound from these earphones is, as near as I can tell, exactly the same as the original CD recording. I've had to re-record my MP3 collection using the highest bit rates (320kbps) possible to get the best from the music and SE310s. I've found that with these earphones it is easy to tell the difference in bit rates (and I'm no audiophile). 2. Many reviews I've seen have mentioned the lack of bass. All I can say is if you want earphones that offer loads of bass, then buy earphones that will. The SE310s try and replicate the recording (in my case CD or MP3) as faithfully and accurately as possible without adding any bass, effects or colouration. I am a big listener of classical music and I'm having to listen to my collection all over again because it now sounds like I'm sat in amongst the orchestra instead of being in the audience. Each rustle of sheet music, each creak of a chair, if it's picked up by the microphones during the recording it will be heard with these earphones. I'm finding there are other sections of the orchestra playing that I've never heard before which have been hidden with other earphones. I also feel I have to mention that I chose the SE310s over the SE110s and SE210s because they offer more across the audio range (see Shure website tech specs). To summarise, if you want the best accuracy and quality without any added bass, or colouration, I could not ask for better at this price range.
nice product, shame about the leads May 13, 2008 R. K. Lovelock 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
right im no nOOb to shures excellent range, and have used thier customer service many times because of problems they have with the leads. i originally bought the e2c and after 5 returns they upgraded me to the best set the e4, they lasted me about 6months in total before the dreaded cracked lead came about again (this same fault killed all my e2cs). anyways in jan i recieved my upgraded se310 from the e4c. the first thing i noticed was the cables are actually thinner than the previous models. i used them for about a month then put them away as i was off work for 2months. the time i used them the sound quality was fantastic, all the ranges were crystal clear and really showed what my archos player was capable of delivering at higher bitrate mp3s. last week i took the headphones out and used them from tues to thurs. on fri i had lost the left channel AGAIN. i inspected the leads, low and behold the loop that goes over the top of the ear has cracked again and failed the headphones. shure have excellent after sales service which you cannot fault but i just wish they could fix this well documented annoying problem across most of the ranges. i also have a set of ultimate ears si3 and they have user replacable leads, if only shure could embrace this simple design then it would make the phones a lot more valuable imo.
Cable cracking March 12, 2008 Andrew M. Simmons (Lost in Space) 5 out of 17 found this review helpful
The real question with all of these Shure products is, has Shure solved the cable cracking problem???????? If you do not know that they have, then do not buy this product.
An excellent experience for someone who really appreciates music March 6, 2008 Asadi Muguro (UK) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Probably the best suited mp3 player Shure headphones. -Avoid poor quality sound mp3 players such Ipods. They don't allow you to adjust individual audio bands. -Ensure the best fit through experimentation for perfect and TRUE audio reproduction. Not bass zealous and unrepresentative of the true source like fontopias. Probably not best to add to many audio effects and controls as the distortion they can create becomes more noticeable as they sound strays further away from the original recording. An excellent pair of headphones and for the price, all those who achieve a proper fit will not be disappointed. Just remember to wear them in slowly when they're new.
