Disappointed October 9, 2008 SimonSSE (London UK) o Found the bass response limited, and the overall sound a little bright. o Didn't understand why the ridiculously short cable - iPod would need to be in shirt pocket or on a neck band. o Fitted in ears without trouble, and had no problem getting sound isolation. Not sure how comfortable they would be in extended use. o First sound isolating type of earphone that I have tried. Yes it does what it says on the tin - and for some environments that will be good. But its a little disconcerting that you no longer have much in the way of ambient hearing. Two stars mainly because of value for money - other reputable brands have similar looking products for half the price. Returned on day of delivery for refund, and still seeking better headphones.
Cheapest Shure is like a cheap Merc October 7, 2008 Mr. Shumit Rehman (London) These are the cheapest Shure headphones by a margin and its like buying a Mercedes A class, you can see the badge and the quality, but in your heart of hearts you know its not how a Merc should be. As a step up from mp3 bundled headphones they are great but if you have already tried Sony fontopias and Creatives 630 phones you will not find a great improvement for your extra 30. The sound is low in bass, has good separation, and great mid to treble but so have the other phones I mentioned. So buy these if you've got the cash for a first upgrade but don't bother if you have already taken that first step.
Very poor value! September 30, 2008 Sam (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really dissapointed with these shure earphones. They are big, uncomfortable and sound flat. I traded them in for a pair of Cresyn C750E. I have had cresyn before and so much better value.
Lousy April 11, 2008 doonjaiasi (UK) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got these after having them reccomended to me by someone in the Apple store. They are bulky and the cable-wrapping-round-your-ear system drove me to distraction. The sound quality was incredibly poor - my old Sony Fontopias are far superior in every respect.
Excellent April 8, 2008 ~D (Oxford, England & Seattle, WA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I found a display that allowed me to compare last years comlete line of Shure earphones and settled on these. The highest end model and this one had the best volume and response. I did find some of the other models didn't have the output I expected. These are a huge improvement on the iPod standards, JVC and others I had tried. I was hesitant to go for high end earphones, but honestly, well worth twice the money. All other earphones I used required me to make my own foam adapters to get a full sound. These work with the many included inserts. The equalizer was useful as the high end output is quite high. The sound clarity is excellent. I am suddenly finding myself wanting to re-record many of my tracks as I am finding so much variation in the original sound quality that I hadn't heard before. I travel with a group and our iPods are the most important bits of kit we have. The only other nearly so positive review I have heard is from the Sennheiser. I haven't done a back to back, but the reviews of these and the much higher sound output pushed me to these. The fit was a factor as well. They'd get five stars but they are expensive and I don't think any earphone has the five star response one would find with larger headphones/speakers.
