As soon as my 2 year old opened the box, she was rapt with these! She loves colouring but of course is too young to understand not to just scrawl over it all... with these mats that is no problem. They kept her entertained for at least an hour and she goes back to them again and again. I would recommend. Yes the pen is a bit small as a previous reviewer said but I do not consider this a problem. A much loved toy already!
Very flimsy mats October 11, 2006 H. Austin (England, UK) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
These Dora Aqua Draw mini mats are very sweet to look at with typical cute Dora and Boots images, however the construction of the mats themselves is unbeliavably thin and flimsy. The child cannot just sit with the mat on their lap to colour it in, you need something like a book to rest it on. The mats also bend very easily - and you cannot get the creases out which makes them hard to lay flat and actually use. Defiantely not sturdy enough for an average 2-6 year old. You get a very tiny water pen which runs out very quickly, we also have a regular aquadraw and my little ones use the larger pen from that instead.
Dora Aqua Mat - Tomy don't be so tight October 4, 2006 T.J.S.Smith (Canterbury) 50 out of 50 found this review helpful
I have an original aqua mat and some Thomas mini mats which I think are great and my 2 and 3 year olds love. However, Tomy have clearly gone out to save money on the Dora mini-mat as it is a lot thinner and flimsier than the other mini-mats. This means that the kids bend and fold the Dora one easily whereas the thickness of the other mats prevent this. Also, about 70 % of each Dora mat is already coloured in and this leaves only the characters to colour. With the Thomas mini-mat none of it was coloured in and my kids like that more. DISAPPOINTING !
