Too much money for too little!January 4, 2004 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
There are quite inflated promises in this book that I can't back up after owning it. The majority of the text is too technical by far and just overwhelms. There are good exercises at the rear, but in all honest these can be found free on the 'net, which I have now done after shooting over 30 down the pan!
Perfect gift for the Martial ArtistDecember 6, 2002 Polona North(England) 33 out of 34 found this review helpful
I am a Martial Artist with my own interest being exercise physiology. I undertsand the concept of stretching and have litterally hundreds of books on the subject but this is by FAR the BEST! This covers isometric stretching which is the fastest method of stretching today. It is also important in that it strenghens the new range of movement by performing isometric contractions so you actually become STRONG in your new range of movement. Doing relaxed stretching is not good and consequently many Martial Artists today are having knee replacements and hip replacements because they have no idea of how to stretch,. also thier 'flowery' high kicks are weak. This is also the best method of stretching as Martial Artists will benefit as it will make your kicks and punches stronger, more controlled and faster without damaging the ligaments or joints. Pavel definately knows what he is talking since he reveals the russian secrets of real flexibility and we must remeber he served in the Russian Special Forces which are famous for being the one of the fittest units in the world. It may be a little expensive but its well worth investing in since it'l be the only book you'l ever need to buy. Get it!
