As a new Taekwon-do practitioner (ITF), I was looking for a book to help with the patterns for each grade. Master Hogan's book is absolutely invaluable in this regard: with colour photographs, and explanations of each step and what new moves have been introduced with that pattern, it is easy to get to grips whenever a new pattern is introduced to my training.

As someone still relatively new to the martial Arts and Taekwon-do. I had previously purchased a few Taekwon-do Patterns books to act as aids to learning my patterns and their application. As I find this area quite fulfilling. But I feel that the books that I had previously brought had fallen far short in respects to illustrating to me what constituted good form and posture in executing my patterns. This book is easy to follow and very user friendly for beginners. Giving you a step by step guides with pictures of good alignment of the body when executing your blocks and attacks, furthermore the photograph's are very realistic, I also find that this book makes a good reference book too. I have enjoyed reading this book and have recommended it to my fellow students at class. I cannot wait to see if the author will publish a Black Belt Patterns book, as I should be hopefully grading in the near distance future for my black belt.
