A very gentle routine, suitable for everyone August 12, 2008 Salvora (UK) This dvd contains a very gentle routine, that is best suited to absolute beginners who have never practised yoga. The music and settings are good. The mix of postures is good. Leah's voice is clear, soft and gentle; very nice to listen to. The instructions are also good, Leah always makes it clear when you should breath in and out, which is really important in a yoga workout. On the down side, I find the pace is a bit quick at times. The relaxation is also not good, as it is a very short section and Leah talks all the time, which doesn't really give you time and space to do what she is telling you to do. Also, if you aren't new to yoga, then this workout is simply too gentle and not challenging enough.
Great easy to follow routine July 25, 2008 auntynellie 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was initially reluctant to buy a celeb routine as they are usually an ego trip. I was persuaded to buy this after seeing all the positive reviews and I am glad I did. I have never done yoga before, but have been looking to try it as I have arthritis and it is supposed to be good for joint pain. This dvd was simple to follow and extremely effective. After just one session I felt more comfortable and will definitely be sticking with this. Leah Bracknell has actually devised the routine herself and is a very good instructor. Her voice is gentle and relaxing and she doesn't jabber constantly like other celebs. The location and the background music enhance the lesson. In fact it is so good I think of her now as a yoga instructor rather than an ex tv star. Excellent, I can't recommend it highly enough
five star for a beginner June 3, 2008 D. Hosking (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i am a beginner with yoga and loving it. i wanted some dvd's to complement my books to work with during my home practice (i may join a class as well in time but intend to do daily practice at home to develop my yoga). i researched dvd's for beginners and wanted one that i could do easily and understand easily and that would be a good length that i wouldn't tire of or get bored with. this is it! just what i wanted and in sections too, also lovely location. great instruction that is clear and consice. i would highly recommend for beginners, great!
Easy Introduction May 12, 2008 Blackcat2 (London) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have practised yoga for a while and use this dvd when I want to do something which isn't too strenuous. Beginners should appreciate it for this as it is reasonably short and gives a good introduction to what yoga is about. There are a nice variety of poses and stretching and I find that the dvd is a good complement to my other yoga routines.
Pleasant practice April 30, 2008 xxxx (xx) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As someone who has been practising yoga for longer I still use this DVD every now and then. It has a nice flow and a nice number of repetitions of movements. It is physically not very challenging for me, but it is certainly relaxing and provides a good stretch after a stressful day. I use this DVD when feeling a bit under the weather or lacking energy to do anything more strenuous. Technique-wise I think this DVD is generally fair, and because of the slow pace it is a safe practice for most I'd think. For better and more specific technique instructions, which could make practice more effective, I recommend the Yoga Zone DVDs, especially the longer ones with Alan Finger.
