10 Minutue Solutions Pilates September 11, 2008 S. Black (Surrey) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was bought this DVD as I had a very bad back. I started using the first program and eventually worked my way up to being able to do all the programs. I lost weight and gained loads of core strength. It may not be true pilates (so I read) but it has done wonders for me and my back. I now use it to maintain my strength and supplement this with kickboxing (another 10 minute solutions) - something I never would have been able to achive before.
Great but not for beginners September 2, 2008 vaneast1 (Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Brought this DVD several weeks ago. It is quite hard but found if you stick at it, you really notice the improvement. I love the fact it is in segments and as such you can alternate (so as not to get bored) or if you are running short of time you don't have to do the whole DVD. However, please note, if you haven't done pilates before this would not be the DVD to start with! I will be looking to purchase others in this series so I can mix it up a bit.
Definately not for beginers! August 29, 2008 L. Bell (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been doing pilates for a few years now and there are still postures that I can't quite do in this dvd. There is one in the abs section that i can't do at all and I wish that she would show you how to get to that place, a simpilar version for you to start on and build off of. However, I really really enjoy doing this dvd, and i love the fact you can pick what you want to do that day and do the workout out of order if you want to. Yet, I do not like the fact it doesn't have a warm-up section because I find I work much better when I'm stretched out. So I find myself doing a warm up from a different video and then switching to this one for my work out because i like to do a different warm up to a cool down (which i use the flexibility one for). I also feel that in the warm up it is here that you either learn about core breathing or at least warm yourself up to breathing like that (unless you are very lucky and breathe that way naturally!!). That is why i gave this 3 stars, otherwise i would have given it 5 because it is amazing and you can really really feel it!
Great and a real challenge July 26, 2008 CAROLINE WEST (London,UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Love, love, love this Pilates DVD. its set into 5 10min workouts which you can do as little as you want or even the whole 50mins. All i can say is 'it was challenging and tough' specially to the point of feeling your muscles burn;great. The instructor was up-beat,enthusiastic and motivating. She tslked you through the exercisis so as to keep you in good form. And it was fun and it makes you sweat. Very pleased with it and if you want a good Plates workout i highly recommend it.
Not for beginners!!!! June 15, 2008 Compassionate Heart (N.E. England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Oh my! Having had a one to one, attended a beginners class of six people, and tried one other Pilates DVD, that was also too fast, I bought a copy of this for myself and one for my friend as a birthday pressie. I'm disappointed, definitely not for beginners, which I still am. Nor for the unfit, or those with difficulty moving 'cause their body is a bit past it's best, and no amount of WD40 would get these joints moving quickly (unfortunately, I also fit this category!)! There is no mention of thoracic breathing, of 'zipping and hollowing' the 'Pilates way' to protect the back, I found it quite aerobic like in pace, and I thought Pilates was a SLOW but effective exercise. I'm going to try one more DVD - Lynne Robinson's Pilates for Beginners, if I get no more joy with pace and content, I'll go back to small classes.
