Great workout the positive reviews were justified May 29, 2008 Marquise of Caribas (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was actually going to buy a different exercise dvd but the good reviews for this one swayed me. The instructor is really pleasant (I havent heard of her but shes in that sexy 80s style call on me video) she is good at instructing and from the warm up onwards you will get a really good exercise session. There is a lot of bouncing around (in a dancy Ibiza sort of way) so if you live in a flat the people downstairs may not like you too much! But I would really recommend this workout - its taxing but you do feel like doing it regularly - honest!
Brilliant! May 22, 2008 A. Dare (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently brought this DVD. I have always hated any form of exercise but this is fantastic. I just wanted to lose a few pounds and tone up as i am already a size 10 but felt i was gaining a little extra that i wanted to get rid of! I have been using this dvd for a week and i have lost 5 lb already and can feel my muscles are more toned. This DVD certainly gets the heart racing and my god do you sweat! I've actually found myself enjoying exercise for the first time in my life, The music is great and so is the instruction. After a few times of doing the workouts you pick up the steps. My only grumbles are that i think the toning section could be a little longer and the BPM section has some interesting moves that can be challenging to follow.
Tiring but good! May 14, 2008 Ms. L. J. Mckeever (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After doing this DVD for just threee days people commented on how i looked (that was coupled with healthy eating of course!) Its really strenuous and you can feel a bit daft doing it at times because its hard to follow but when you get used to it its amazing! The hi-energy bit reeeally put me through my paces, but i was post-natal (2 weeks after having my baby) when i first started so that could be why! The only thing I hated was the preppiness of the girl doing it, but the guy checking her out constantly made me laugh!
Novices take care April 11, 2008 Sarah (Ireland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an excellent workout for those interested in burning calories and toning up. I used this to get fit and lose weight after having a baby. I noticed dramatic difference in both my weight and muscle tone after just 4 weeks. HOWEVER I sustained a knee injury as a result of some of the moves. I was extremely fit before starting but would have had very little aerobics experience and quite a few of the moves in the 2nd and 4th sections can be dangerous if you are not 100% sure how to move/land properly - there is very little info on technique in the dvd. Also, because it is such a physical workout, it is very, very important that you when you are doing it you use a very good quality exercise mat for every section - I was using a solid wooden floor without a mat. So for those of you who know what you are doing, it's great. For those of who haven't engaged in instructed aerobics classes in the recent past, I would advise you to avoid or at the very least, proceed with great caution.
Poorly choreographed routines and vague instructions March 31, 2008 who_la_hoop (London, England) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This instalment of the Pump It Up exercise DVD series is fun, but nowhere near as good as the first one. As ever, the workout is tiring if you do the whole thing, but the routines vary in quality - from "just about okay" to "incredibly difficult to follow". The warm-up and two aerobics sections aren't bad - although there are a few places where the speed of the routine means it would be quite easy to injure yourself, particularly your knees. Too much twisting at too high a speed! The dance section is hopelessly bad - they race through the instruction, and the moves are both strange and complicated. The toning section is mixed - the sit-ups section is quite short, while there is a really long bit for `planks'. I think you'd have to have muscles of iron to be able to do the whole thing! The squats section is really excellent, however. If you're new to aerobics-style classes or very unfit then avoid this DVD like the plague. The instruction is vague, the moves are often performed too quickly, and it's obviously aimed at people who are already pretty fit. My boyfriend had a go at this with me, and while he's got fairly good co-ordination and has done quite a few of my DVDs, he really struggled to pick up the routines. That said, the music is good and I find the instructors pretty inspirational (oh to have Deanne Berry's body!), even though Deanne herself is pretty irritating. The coos of the audience, cheering on the scantily clad dancers, is also quite dire.
