Product Description The neat and compact Transcend JetFlash 210 USB Flash Drive allows you to carry a secure gigabyte in your pocket - allowing for plenty of data storage capacity (over 200 mp3 songs or 1,000 photos). No need for batteries, charging or drivers just plug into any PC or Mac's USB port, swipe your fingertip across Transcend JetFlesh's bio-metric sensor strip to access your data, or log on to membership websites.

Great product, and it works. You can assign your 8 fingers and 2 thumbs to it, or assign somebody else's prints to the other slots (there are 10 slots). Note that you have to swipe your finger (slide it across the golden strip) rather than just put your finger on for a second. It recognised my index finger print easily and works every time. One problem is that the fingerprint authentication software doesn't seem to load up on the computers at my school. What is does is create a virtual CD drive (which it does on the school computers) which then allows it to autorun the exe for the software (which is on the virtual drive). Even if I copy the files to the computer itself, the program still won't start up. Looking at a review on the Amazon US site, it appears that you may need admin privilages on a computer to get it to work. Nevertheless, a CD with repartitioning software is included. This software lets you split the space between a public sector (which you can view without swiping your finger) and a private sector (which appears in the public sector's place when you authenticate your finger). One annoying thing is that after you swipe your finger, the public files disappear, and you have to close the authentication software (which appears on the system tray on the bottom right) before you can view it again. Also, for those who have bought the product: I was confused at first why it wasn't recognising my print. It turned out I was pushing down too hard on the strip. You just need to lightly brush your fingerprint against the strip rather than push down as hard as you can. The product itself comes with a useful USB extension cable which is useful as it lets you position the drive as you want. It also comes with a neckstrap, and looks nice. The product is designed well to help protect the fingerprint detector even when the lid is off (the detector part is set into the drive by a few millimeters so that it won't easily get scratched while it's plugged in), and the lid protects both the fingerprint part and the USB plug at the end. One other exciting feature of this drive is that using the software that is stored on the drive itself, you can fingerprint protect ANY file on your computer, and then unlock it at any point in the future (provided that your fingerprint is still programmed into the drive and that the drive is plugged in). I would rate it 5/5, but the fact it doesn't work on the school computers (and I presume it won't work on the computers at my library as they have similar privileges) is a downside.
