I purchased the JBL Creature II around 18 months ago as a secondary set of speakers - just for the bedroom. My initial opinion was positive; they look great and had a nice, balanced sound.
I only use them at relatively low volumes (they have NEVER been overloaded, I have other speakers for loud music playing) yet after about a year I found the satellite speakers starting to sound tired and a little rough - even at the lowest volumes they sound as if they cannot cope and are distorting (I have tried them with stereo, PC and Ipod to ensure it was the speakers and not the source). The other issue I have with them is that the bass & treble knobs feel cheap are 'scratchy' when turned. I have to say I would not advise anyone to go and purchase a set of these. I'd love to write a more positive review as they are a great product from a quality manufacturer.
If you are considering a set of great looking PC speakers I would strongly advise putting your money behind a set of Harman Kardon's SoundSticks II. I have a pair of these also and I simply cannot fault them. Either for low-volume music or turned right up they never disappoint me. They come from the same manufacturer (I believe JBL is a division of Harman Kardon) and really are a world apart. Everyone that hears my SoundSticks II has commented on the clarity and power of the sound, and the previously unheard detail they reveal in most CDs. They are truly stunning.

i bought my creature from caraudiosecurityuk and they were SSOOO helpful, i got confused because the speaker plug in areas have a triangle and a square. a little tricky to push in but works great when done!
I ADORE this item! it goes so loud, the couch was vibrating! the delivery was soo quick.the creature looks amazing with my macbook.

I love these speakers they are soooo good. They give amazing quality of sound and sub is HUGE i crank it up all the time and it doesn't distort the sound. If your thinking of getting a new set of speakers then get these ones, they are the best out for the little money you pay for them. They are the best value for money speakers.

Nothing more than a gimmick February 1, 2008

While the Creature IIs may look ace, they don't sound it. With poor midrange sound, the trebel sounds tinny, and the bass from the sub-standard subwoofer is an overpowering blur. It took me a while to get these working, with the right speaker refusing to make any noise (a common complaint with these speakers). After less than a month, they've broken, and I'm replacing them with some Creative Gigaworks T20s, which I hope will be much better. Only buy these speakers if you just care about their looks and not the sound - after a few recommendations I was severely disappointed. I would advise you to steer clear of these speakers. If you don't want to spend any more than the 43, get some Logitech X-230s ( 25) which sound quite a lot better and are far cheaper.
