Another failed unit August 13, 2008 Mr. J. Hopkinson (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
They were fine when they worked, but like so many of these units mine recently blew a fuse and if you replace it the fuse just blows again. It's unacceptable to throw away an expensive item like this and I will never buy another product from creative again.

firstly i bought myself the z5500 logitech and was frankly blown away by it's immense bass and sound levels, after complaints from neighbours either side of me ( in a detached house) i realised this system wasn't ordinary at all. after owning it for 11 months and 20 days the fuse went, fortunately a full refund from pc world due to the 12 month warrenty allowed me to purchase the gigaworks. a bold move since the neighbours could hear 500 watts, i wonder how they'd cope with 700! this is an amazing system however the simplicity of the logitech from the control centre unit leaves me feeling slightly disappointed that i bought this over another z5500. personally i'd recommend saving 80 for what is essentially as good a system because you can never play it at maximum volume the z5500 delivers as much performance as one could want from such a system
Dire Creative July 8, 2008 D. S. Fearon (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Superb set of speakers, but alas, my set has blown too. Loud pop moise, glass fuse shattered, replaced fuse, blows = Creative suck. The web support from Creative was dire to say the least, the replies I was recieving from their support were barely litterate, just pointing me to a web page that I had already visited, with a picture of a fuse lol. So we've all been given 300 paperweights by creative, thanks for that, I will never buy Creative again, I think their time in the PC market is coming to an end. Don't buy these speakers, maybe try the Logitech or some Altecs :)
Sub-wuffer a duffer - joining the queue June 29, 2008 S. Parmenter (Sleazeland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought my set in October 2006 and the sub-woofer went pop 2 days ago - and now I read all these reviews! I don't use mine heavily and nor do I use it for long periods but, as it happens I was programming for several hours and listening to Internet radio when there was a loud pop and then silence. I replaced the fuse but it was only when the unit was turned on from standby did it blow the fuse. It does sound rather good, however I will not buy another as there seems to be too many other people reporting the same behaviour and there being no help or support from Creative. Creative seems to be in a bit of a decline these past few years with regards to the quality of their soundcards, drivers and support. Now it's their speakers. Shame. Do not buy from Creative.
Do not leave your speakers on indefinitely June 8, 2008 Sj Hearne 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This system is amazing, with a good soundcard it cannot be beat. Leave it on for more than 18 hours and lose the amplifier ( 200 worth). It is not worth it, I spent a lot of money (which I do not have) on this 'amazing' sound system. At first I was in paradise but I left it running idle for 6 hours and there were flames. Steer clear and save your money for the next iteration, I hope it will be better...
