Sony lie to buyers by claiming that these little speakers provide room filling sound. To be honest, the speaker with the amplifier produces zero bass and the other speaker produces a fair amount. The build quality is great, that is the same with every Sony product, but these speaker's are so rubbish that I returned them the day I recieved them.

It's a shame that there aren't more details available for these speakers because it would reveal just how small they are. The speaker cones themselves can't be any bigger than 3cm! I thought that the weight of them would be an indication, but the package wieght includes the huge AC adaptor.
As you'd expect from small, light speakers, they sound tinny, very little bass, but high end definition is OK. I compared the Z-30s to some cheap speakers that came with a PC 7 years ago, and they didn't do very well.
These might be suitable as portable speakers, but don't expect much from them and they're certainly not worth 40.
