Great for jogging... November 29, 2007 Mr. J. Burney I bought these to test them out and see if they'd be good for cutting out the background noise in the office (which they didn't do all that well) but they're great for using whilst jogging. They cut out all of the ambient street noise, sometimes a little too good so you have to be extra-aware at junctions etc. The only downside is the size of the battery unit (which hangs around your neck) and the fact that you can't easily clip it on to anything. There's also quite a lot of cable attached to the headphones themselves which you can't do anything with... Other than that they're great
Very Good for price November 3, 2007 William H. Garrett Jr. (Birmingham, AL USA) If you keep expectations in line with the price point you will be satisfied. Sound quality is good, ANR acceptable, build quality is very good. Comfort is "ok". I wear these ear buds for 2-3 hours without a problem. Recommended.

I bought these headphones on a whim with some Christmas money, as the last pair of noise reducing earphones I had, I really liked. They were Sony - I wish I had actually taken the time to research this, as I now really wish I hadn't bought them. Inear headphones can't exactly be sold on!! I don't know a huge amount about noise and sound, all I can tell someone who is on the same sort of knowledge level as me it what things sound like! These do cancel out noise to a degree - I still find that if I'm walking up the highstreet, I need to turn the music up quite a lot to actually get rid of any outside noise, which is rubbish. I find this so irritating, as I can't listen to them for too long because I worry about the loudness of my headphones. When switching on the noise reducing thing, it just sounds like it's amplifying the noise. I don't think the sound quality is very good either. But, the worst thing about this is the stupid little box that's bang smack in the middle of the headphone lead. It's the worst desgin - when I'm walking anywhere the weight of it tugs on my ears and I find myself walking along shoving the earbuds back in every minute or so. I can't use them at the gym because the thing just dangles, and as it's in the middle of the lead I can't really find anywhere to stash it without carrying my mp3 player really close to me. It's just too much hassle, and it's driving me crazy! So crazy, I'm going to buy another pair, and this time, I'm actually going to really do some research, because these were such a disappointing waste of money.

These little head phones are impressive for value. This is the first pair of philips amplified headphones I have come across wich is a good thing for the headphones as I have tried to make many of their headphones distort which is hard to do when using a mp3 or cd player, but with the built in amp it's possable. The noise reduction is only usful for mid level noise! you can still hear bass and trebble noise, unless your playing music then it all goes away. Sound detail is important to me but when speakers are smaller the detail is not so great! as any one would expect, So you would hope for gold plated adapers to imporve quality, well they are chrome!.
not all bad August 12, 2006 josF (london) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
The noise-cancelling feature is quite good, though I wouldn't use it for extended periods with that feature on as it amplifies the volume of the music - had some earache after using this for some weeks. Good for studying / reading and listening to music in noisy environments though. Don't rate Phillips ear phones for sound quality but if you want these for the noise cancellation you could do worse. Sound in left ear went in under 6 months though.
