Excellent product let down by marketing July 25, 2008 M. Hart 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like all flat pack furniture, a few teething problems with construction. We had no problem constructing this with the bolts provided, unlike some other reveiwers. We did struggle with this for a few hours because the product description failed to mention that a suitable tool to tighten the nuts was not included OR indicate what size of spanners would be needed to assembler the bar. Hoping that two of your standard spanners will put this together will not work, you need a 10 mm spanner & a set of draytons. Be aware there are two different size & shape of bolt & if they are put in the wrong place the bar will not assemble properly.
Great bit of kit July 20, 2008 Mr. Dave Russell Baker (Telford, Shropshire United Kingdom) I was given this chinning bar for a birthday present two weeks ago to use whilst travelling with my work. Not sure if it is really suitable for carrying in an overnight case, but great if you don't want to drill/screw a bar into a door frame. As the other reviewer says very easy to fit and remove in seconds but it did need a socket set and spanner to put together first time round. Very strange feeling when used for the first time, but after a couple of sessions you get use to trusting the bar to take your weight. A couple of minor negatives: 1. Only fits standard wall thicknesses. We live in an old house with very thick walls and the bar only works on the stud walls. I guess it would be fine in a modern house though. 2. Secondly all the range of grips is a little limited. It would be nice to have a very wide grip position. The widest on offer is only a little wider than my shoulders. Overall, great bit of kit.... but it doesn't make the exercise any easier.
Wrong nuts.. July 15, 2008 Mr. James Fg Roffey (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wrong nuts provided. Customer Service in US. Due to send back to amazon asap. Nuts provided were too long meaning that the frame was too loose. Would not recommend as this is a problem that has unfortuantely been found with many of these bars.
no way it can be put together July 3, 2008 SmallThings 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
my husband bought it a month ago. it was impossible to put together as it lacked the right type of nuts. not recommended.
impossible to set up; wrong types of nuts June 22, 2008 Ilovebooks 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Based on the review I read on amazon.co.uk a month ago, I ordered the product. Unfortunately, some of the nuts were wrong types, making it impossible to set it up. As I was very enthusiastic about this product, I tried to find replacement nuts from local hardware shops. It seems that the nuts provided by Everlast are different from British nuts. Whatever I found did not match the screw. I even tried to contact Everlast USA but their customer service phone-line went dead whenever I was put through by the person at the switchboard. I had to send it back to amazon. I do not recommend this product.
