I recommend that people wear sweat bands underneath the wrist/ankle weights when they use them. The velcro straps can chaff quite a bit and overtightening the strap can cut the blood circulation to the body's extremities.

I bought some of these to use on my wrists. I was using them every day and then after about 2 weeks the material they're made from had stretched that much that the velcro no longer lines up so I had to wear them loose - thias is no use when you're running and they're sliding up and down your arm, I no longer use them. I am female though - so I imagine that a man might not encounter the same problem as they generally have bigger wrists.
