I have just bought the camera for my two year old son. He loved it, and it was easy for him to use. He took a lots of pictures as soon as he got it. He then ejoyed watching them back on the computer screen, he also learnt very quickly to view them on the LCD Screen using the arrows buttons. The quality of the pictures is not so bad, if you consider it is just a toy and I do not want print the photos or at least not all of them. I think it is a perfect toy for two/ tree year old children. You can let them take all the pictures they like without worring they are going to drop the camera and break it. If I gave my two year old a proper camera, I would be lucky if lasted more than two days, after he tried to experiment the gravity force with it.
Great toy if you use your imagination March 25, 2008 Mark Smith (Motherwell, Scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
OK, I was sceptical buying this as I read the reviews before hand - and to be fair they are all relatively accurate. Camera itself is well built as I'd expect from Fisher Price. The buttons are nicely placed and easy to use. The viewing screen is very poor, but it does the job. Its hard to see images on playback when the flash has operated as everything tends to turn 'white' if taken too close. The camera makes nice little noises and does everything it needs to for a child. The 2 eyed view is also decent enough to use. I havent bothered with a SD card as you can easily delete pictures and clear the memory very easily. No issues with camera battery use either. I bought a blue one ( 15 less than the same pink version) for my little girl (my son is following behind and hes not into pink it would seem LOL!) for 45 which does seem alot of money for a childs camera, however if I buy a cheap better picture quality camera I dont think it would last the pace so readily. At the end of the day its a toy pretending to be a camera, but when you put it in the hands of a child its a great to see them taking pictures of the ceiling, their feet, chopping heads of etc. - I'm sure they wont win any awards with the pictures they take, but its more of learning experience as you can show them how to use it properly, how to download onto the PC, manipulate their pics, make things with what they take i.e. its about we as adults also using our imagination to make the toy the best it can be. I think its been a great buy for a whole learning process, not as someone earlier mentioned to produce results ala David Bailey from a 3 yr old. I'm 37 and still cant do that LOL!! I have an Olympus 510 which is low end dSLR, so I do appreciate what photography is about. A child should have fun with this camera, but only you can make it 'really fun' for them to use.
Educational - perhaps. Quality - no March 2, 2008 Andrew Catto (West Yorkshire UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Build quality seems fairly good (yet to be subjected to a drop / throw test)and is easy to operate. However, although I accept the preceding comments about educational value of this product, the image quality is utterly atrocious. My son has little discriminate ability when it comes to image quality, but he would struggle to see what he has taken a picture of! There has be a balance between educational value and the fact that this is a toy, however, it certainly isn't cheap and the image is of such poor quality that it barely qualifies for the title 'camera'. Print quality using a colour laser is predictably dreadful. Pity I didn't read the Amazon reviews before purchasing this product.
A great Toy camera that actually works February 29, 2008 Robert Smith (North Wales) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The one thing you do have to remember is this is a Fisher price camera and fisher price make toys, they are not Sony or Canon. I agree the quality of the pictures is not brilliant but I purchased the camera for my 4 year old boy, before this he played with bits of plastic moulded to look like a camera from the cover of a comic. My little boy thinks it's great, he can snap away, It doesn't matter if it is dropped or water is slashed on it, It even has a flash, I know I would of loved one when I was his age. In conclusion, it's a great Toy camera, quality of pictures is not great, build is superb so If you little one wants a toy camera that actually works then buy this.
Poor quality pictures January 17, 2008 C. Stagnell 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I agree with other comments that the build quality on this camera is very good, and my son does enjoy taking photos with it. HOWEVER, the picture quality is very poor, particularly on the view finder - grainy and dark. I don't think it offers good value for money, and would not recommend it to anyone else for that reason.
