I have never worn a pair of flip flops for more than ten yards. I'd rather walk bare foot and get dirty/hot/cold/scratched feet. Then I tried Fitflops, and I wear them everywhere - to the shops, hill walking and a lot on the Pembrokeshire coastal Path where they're great on hills and beaches, rocks and roads and are super impact-absorbing. I walk a cliff / harbour / beach walk every evening (for pleasure and exercise), and I wouldn't do the walk in anything else now.
