Product Description
Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox

Amazon.co.uk Review
"I bought a car. Turned out to be an alien robot. Who knew?" deadpans Sam Witwicky, hero and human heart of Michael Bay's rollicking robot-smackdown fest, Transformers. Witwicky (the sweetly nerdy Shia LaBeouf, channeling a young John Cusack) is the perfect counterpoint to the nearly nonstop exhilarating action. The plot is simple: an alien civil war (the Autobots vs. the evil Decepticons) has spilled onto Earth, and young Sam is caught in the fray by his newly purchased souped-up Camaro. Which has a mind--and identity, as a noble-warrior robot named Bumblebee--of its own. The effects, especially the mind-blowing transformations of the robots into their earthly forms and back again, are stellar.

Fans of the earlier film and TV series will be thrilled at this cutting-edge incarnation, but this version should please all fans of high-adrenaline action. Director Bay gleefully salts the movie with homages to pop-culture touchstones like Raiders of the Lost Ark, King Kong, and the early technothriller WarGames. The actors, though clearly all supporting those kickass robots, are uniformly on-target, including the dashing Josh Duhamel as a U.S. Army sergeant fighting an enemy he never anticipated; Jon Voight, as a tough yet sympathetic Secretary of Defense in over his head; and John Turturro, whose special agent manages to be confidently unctuous, even stripped to his undies. But the film belongs to Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and the dastardly Megatron--and the wicked stunts they collide in all over the globe. Long live Transformers! --A.T. Hurley

5 out of 5 stars Woah.. What just happened?!   October 19, 2008

Tell you what, this film was AMAZING! The CGI was so detailed and realistic (well.. as realistic as giant transforming robots can be!). I originally rented this on DVD, but got it on Blu-Ray earlier this week.
I'd never compare this to the Back to the Future trilogy, but if you liked those films, you want some amazing scenes and some all round fun, this is definitely for you.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutly brilliant   October 7, 2008

I bought this film from Amazon and watched it full 1080p and i have to say, this was the best movie experience i have ever had, and the best movie i have watched i ages!

The graphics and story from start to finish was inspiring! i urge anyone considering this and most defiantly via blu-ray, go straight out and get it, you will not be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars My new favourite Bluray showoff movie   October 6, 2008

The film is good fun, but this review is about the bluray disc.

Excellent picture. Had a friend round to watch it, he has seen films on my system before (sony 40 inch bravia with PS3) but his jaw was dropping to the ground on this.

The CGI in particular is stunning on the Bluray disc, every time I watch it I notice some new bit of detail on the robots, though generally every scene is of very high visual quality.

The sound is available on DTS HD, which is very good, although it is a pity they did not go for linear uncompressed.

As I say the sound is very good, all channels are clear and crisp and the bass in particular is impressive.

This bluray disc is a brilliant showpiece for your home cinema system.

Brilliant service, would highly recommend. Came three days before expected delivery which is always good! Brilliant film especially in Blu Ray! Great seller. Jamie in Bournemouth, UK.

4 out of 5 stars Somethings missing   September 14, 2008

I love this film, the makers have succeeded (in my mind) of retaining the magic of the cartoons and brought it thoroughly up to date.

The BD-Live feature is quite nice but takes an age to load. The video and sound quality are the best I've seen on Blu-Ray so far BUT both me and the wife felt that alot of scenes had been edited down so it lost some of the Wow! impact that we got from the cinema and from the DVD version. I will do a direct comparison but it just felt that something was missing from this version so minus a star for that reason (but i'm not that bothered - i'll leave that to the people who really care about that sort of thing)

I very much hope that it's not going to turn into a movie which has loads of 'versions' each with added scenes as so often happens with big budget films. And what's with the packaging? It came with an info sheet stuck to the outside of the case. This info sheet is too big to put inside the actual case - bad planning and preparation means that I now have the choice of folding this extra bit of paper or throwing it away. It does state on the cover that this is a 2 disc special edition. Should I have waited for thr Ultimate edition or Directors cut or extended edition or . . .
