1 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy!!!   March 26, 2008

The other reviews are based on how good the mouse is when it's new.
The life expentacy of this particular mouse is less than 1 year. Look on amazon.com and you will see the reviews after a year.

Also has a very short range and makes some funny noise when moving it about. Buy a logitech mouse, I only brought this mouse because it was cheap.
I guess I got what I paid for :-(

4 out of 5 stars Good mouse but materials need improvement.   February 24, 2007

I have had this mouse for a year or so now and find it very acceptable ergonomically, though it seemed small when I bought it I have found it to be surprisingly comfortable to hold, the buttons and roller are comfortably positioned and work perfectly, it is solidly built and so far it has been 100% reliable.

Perhaps the USB stick could have been smaller but all USB sticks appear to protrude awkwardly and are likely to be knocked at times no matter how small.

One minor point is that the clear rubber slithers (not distinguishable as clear on the picture as they appear to be black) which are glued to either side of the mouse, where the tips of your thumb and little fingers grip the mouse, has absorbed oils from the skin and changed from clear to yellow. The discolouration cannot be wiped off because the oil has been absorbed deep into the rubber. However, the rubber is intact and has not otherwise degraded. I might point out that I am quite particular about my cleanliness and never eat at my laptop.

I wonder if this is a problem for other Microsoft mice.

However, I would not like to dissuade people from purchasing this high quality product, it is well designed and good value for money. I would point out my negative point above is of a superficial nature and I can otherwise recommend this mouse highly.

I might add that a year on I have purchased another one of these devices for another laptop I have - so I think that indicates I'm satisfied with the product.

4 out of 5 stars Another Great Microsoft Mouse   February 18, 2007

I've bought a mouse before for friends from Microsoft and was impressed with its features compared to my 4 years old but still well featured logitech mouse and keyboard pack.

So, when I finally decided to buy a Microsoft product for myself, this Wireless Notebook Mouse, I was keen to see how it turned out, and as most people have decribed in these reviews, I wasn't dissappointed. The mouse works straight after plugging it in, no hassle, no faults, and it works on almost any surface and so far seems to work at any distance that you can still read text on the screen.

The one and probably most common problem with Notebook devices is the large usb receiver for the mouse, it sticks out way too far and therefore increases the chances of being broken. Ive knocked it afew times and it stops working and LED flashes on the receiver, btu simply unplugging it and putting it back in again fixes it straight away. One area that it is efficient with its space however is when your not using it, the receiver gones into the base of the actual mouse and turns it off, hence saving battery power, a problem with most other devices but not this one!

A worthy purchase, best out of the current ones available by far

Lasted less than 12 months.
Reception was variable.
Choice of surfaces was limited to dark coloured or matt surfaces.
Stopped working very suddenly with no warranty.

5 out of 5 stars As good as it gets   October 31, 2006

Plug the `dongle` in your laptop and away you go, a bit smaller than a `standard` size mouse but that just makes it easier to get in your case, another superb product from Microsoft
