Best alternative to the mouse for RSI avoidance August 4, 2008 I. Rahwan I got this tablet not for drawing, signing, or commenting. The primary reason was because the use of the computer mouse was staining my hand and arm. I heard about this alternative while visiting a university in which an ergonomic specialist prescribed these tablets for everyone as an alternative to the mouse. Since I started using Bamboo, I no longer have strain problems with my arm. If you experience, or fear experiencing, Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), this is a great tool.
A Tablet That Exceeds Expectations July 24, 2008 Gilbert and George (UK) When you buy a tablet for 35 and change you expect it to work but you don't really expect something quite as capable as this one. It works brilliantly on Ubuntu Linux 8.04 and I'm finding using the gimp has never been easier. The pad size bothered me before purchasing but it is more than adequate in the majority of situations. This may not be the most sensitive tablet - in comparison with higher priced wacom tablets - but so far I've found it more than adequate, though I have tuned the sensitivity curve to fit my style of drawing. It need this config for Ubuntu Hardy Heron: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=765915 but should work automatically by 8.10 (once the linuxwacom version catches up). I've already recommended this tablet to someone else and am likely to recommend it again.
Good, but there are other options May 27, 2008 L. Longrigg (London, England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
although this is a good piece of gear, if you are going for quality on a budget, there are some very cheap tablets that are just as good i have one from Trust, which is perfect for me as a designer...
Trial only software April 13, 2008 W. Evans (United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great item but expensive as just a cursor controller. If you want to use it as a graphics tool which is what it is really good for you need to purchase the JustWrite software extra, since the Bamboo only comes with a trial version !!! Even the cheapest digi cameras come with free photo editing software
Ignore S. Hasler's review... January 8, 2008 Tetsugaku-San (Brighton, UK) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I just picked one up from Pixmania, and although their comms was a little lacking, the tablet itself is perfect. S. Hasler's review states it comes with a French adapator plug? Not possible as the tablet plugs into USB (international) and not the mains, no adaptor needed and the only manual supplied was in 4 languages inc. English. (the text on the back of the box was in French :o !!!)
