Compatible with Apple Leopard November 14, 2008 mh-force1 (UK) Could not find anywhere if this was compatible with Apple OS X Leoppard. Took a chance, and it worked first time - used it with Garage Band and Roland TD9 drum kit. As with other recommendations, connect the MIDI cable marked IN to the Musical Instruments OUT and vice versa. The markings are not easy to see at first - but it is on the cable. Did not get any documentation or CD with the cable, but it was straight forward and by the sound of other reviews, it also works with Windows.
two metre cable November 8, 2008 David Jones (UK) The cable from the usb connector to the hub is 1.3M. MIDI in and out cables reach a further 70cm from the hub. Maybe I'm just being picky, but that's not even 3M of cable in total.
Does the job! November 1, 2008 Onewithall (Torquay, England) This works perfectly as a USB to MIDI cable. I use it to record music from my digital piano in MIDI format. There's no audible delay between pressing the key on my piano and hearing it from my laptop's speakers. One word of warning though - the longest distance I could get between USB port and MIDI ports with the cable I received was about 2m.
Does what it says on the tin :-) August 8, 2008 David Tollow 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I looked at the other feedback on this item and thought - can it really be that easy? Well it was - the cable arrived in two days (standard delivery!). I plugged it into my (ancient) Yamaha PSR-170 midi-capbale keyboard and into my XP PC. It worked immediately with Cakewalk studio instruments and Ableton Live Lite 7. So as the cheapest (and simplest?) way of connecting midi instruments to a PC this has to get five stars.
Easy to install, and perfect for the job! June 18, 2008 J. Bertram (UK) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
First of all I would like to say that make sure the distance between your MIDI device and your PC is under 3 meters, as I ended up rearranging my room so that it would reach. (Literally, everything has moved, although it looks much better now!) Moving on...I looked at various different USB to MIDI cables and made sure I talked to various people in the know beforehand, but settled on this particular item in the end. I wanted to use it on my Electronic Drum kit (Alesis DM5) so that I could easily record the drum tracks I wanted and edit them on the PC if necessary, instead of taking loads of attempts via audio. The thing with Drum Modules and MIDI is that there is often a lot of 'latency' (basically lag between the connections) and this is the one real problem I was worried about. However, I almost jumped for joy when I plugged it in, waited the 4 or so seconds for the driver to automatically install, and found out there was no latency at all! Now I am happily recording away, still thinking about the possibilities of the USB MIDI cable. Remember that these aren't just for keyboards, and can in fact work with any MIDI controller. Oh, and if you were wondering what other kit I use to record, or could recommend, it would be a Line6 Toneport UX2, Ableton Live and an Ibanez electric guitar.
