Great Bag, But Only a Starter! August 31, 2008 Peter Makosch (Leicester, UK) Well, I bought this after a recommendation from a forum. It was all great, the bag is robust, secure and transported my D60 SLR with two lenses fine. There is space for three lenses at a push. The whole slingshot feature is great. Access to the camera is easy to access and I feel my gear is secure with the clips and zip system. Three months on, I have grown out of it as I wanted a bag what I could carry a drink and sandwiches in. I also have four lenses, a lens hood and a spare battery to transport with me. I'd recommend this bag for those just starting out, but if you plan to get serious, get a bag that doesn't LOOK like a photographers bag. Look at double strap bags as this one can last for a few hours but all day could be painful on the shoulder!
Excellent bag, well worth the money August 28, 2008 Masood Syed (UK) (this review is for the Lowepro Slingshot 200 shoulder bag/sling bag for digital SLR - a while ago all the different size lowepro reviews were bundled together, very confusing!) I bought this bag almost a year ago for my canon 350D and was a bit apprehensive spending so much on a bag. A year later and I'm still smiling. A well designed bag with incredible amount of space inside, and in the outside compartments. I can fit my canon with three mid size lenses, and one small lens, large diffuser, collapsible lens hood, full size flash, spare slimline camera, cleaning kit, spare batteries and 2 battery chargers! Took a while arranging them in a certain fashion like reversing the diffuser over the camera lens and rearranging the velcro walls inside the bag. I currently have my bag packed to the hilt and with only one main strap can get a bit uncomfortable, specially if you are used to using two strap back packs. Swinging the bag from your back to the side is incredibly easy and saves having to take the backpack off to get your camera out. I like the small attention to detail like the lcd screen cover - a small slip of cloth that cover the cameras lcd screen, the hidden water cover, and straps with loops apparently for tripods although I carry my tripods seperately. The inside walls attach via velcro so you can change the compartment size to suit your needs. Bottom Line: Incredible amount of room in this bag. Well constructed. Not everyone will like the one strap - with the bag fully loaded I found it a bit uncomfortable for long periods - I would try one on at a shop first to see if you like the feel. I use it to store all my camera bits apart from the tripods and a separate smaller bag for taking just the camera on short shoots. Well recommended product.
Great bag for an even greater camera! August 22, 2008 Santhosh (Bangalore, India) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this bag to go with my Olympus E510. At first I was sceptical whether it would fit all my gear, but surprisingly it fits my camera with 4 lens and an electronic flash! you read it right!! The main hold has 4 pockets, I would call them East, West, North & South. The North holds my 70-300mm telephoto lens, West hold the camera with 14-42mm lens attached, East holds 50mm Macro lens and the South holds my Sigma 10-20mm Wide angle lens. I keep the FL-36 electronic flash on top of 70-300mm lens, which also keeps the lens from rolling as there is some free space. However, I have done a couple of minor changes to accommodate all these. Firstly, I have replaced the thick partition between East and West pockets with a thin one from another bag. Secondly, I had to cut the card holder inside the main hold, as it was pressing the LCD of my camera and I couldn't completely close the bag. Now everything fits snugly. There is a small hold at the top, in which I have the blower, rain proof cover for my camera and other stuffs. The front pouch hold the batteries, lens pen etc. However, there are a couple of design flaws. First, the bag with all my gears in weigh about 4Kgs. and you start to get pain in your right shoulder after few hours. The design flaw prevents swapping on to your left shoulder. Second, the bag is not quite safe, especially if you are travelling in a crowded train etc. I would have liked a metal zipper pull to the existing band pull, so that I could lock my bag. Couple of minor issues apart, this is a great bag if your camera is a small DSLR like Olys, Nikon D60 etc.
Female Review of Lowepro 200 AW August 10, 2008 Coral (Lincolnshire UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this bag 1 week ago and have used it on 2 day trips. It has definitely passed the waterproof test as it rained all day on day 2. I do have quite a full bust but the strap sits kind of across the centre and if I push the side stabiliser strap up to its highest point then that goes under my armpit and is comfortable. I would suggest that a woman tries one of these on in a shop before buying. It will depend on your shape as to whether it is comfortable. I found it comfortable for shorter trips but my chest did get a bit uncomfortable on longer trips. It is easy to swing around to get my camera out. If you have the stabiliser strap done up and the main back strap unclipped then you can sling it onto your right shoulder and then reach down and clip the back strap clip in, without having to do a windmill impression! I find my bag too heavy to lift up to get it over my head and there is no need!! I have a canon 40D, a Canon 17-55 f2.8, a 70-200 f4 and a 1.4x extender. The bag is not ideal for a long lens but the 200 does fit at the top of the main compartment although the partition does not have anything to velcro to at the opening end. I have the lens hood mounted on it upside down. The camera with 55 lens still fits easily in the centre and rests on the partition at the bottom . (The camera also fits with the 200 lens attached in the centre compartment and then the 50 has plenty of room at the top). The compartment at the bottom easily fits my extender and hood for the 50 lens or could fit an average size lens. I have 2 polarizers in the main compartment too. This leaves the top compartment free for either a flash and charger or my kagoul or a sarnie bag (box does not fit). There is a front pocket for my keys, spare cards and spare batteries, notebook & pen. I have made a velcro loop which you can utilize with the flat loops on the side and on the pockets and I can loop my heavier coat on the back if a nasty day turns nice. Lowepro sell a water bottle holder that loops onto the top loop and you can reach over your head to get your drink out. I also have a Velbon Ultra stick 50LX (monopod)which will slide into the loop on the side of the bag and is about the same height as the bag when closed (33cm ) and 130cm when opened (also recommended!). Hope this helps.
First class purchase July 25, 2008 Mr. N. Szymko (United Kingdom) The Slingshot 100AW is without a doubt the best camera bag bought, and have had many different models over the past... My Nikon D40 is resting nicely in the slingshot and very quick at hand should the occasion present itself... the bag is well manufactured... 100% for this purchase!!!
