Damn you Amazon for not allowing 10 stars! Along with "the Wire" the best television series of this or for that matter any other decade. The scripts are sharp enough to cut diamonds. The characters are the most memorable to hit the screens in years. And with Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff, Alison Janney, Rob Lowe, Alan Alda et al you have the strongest actors on the box. There are also occasions Aaron Sorkin scripts are transcendent. Let's hope that Barrack Obama pulls him to write some of the forthcoming inauguration speech (ok it should be great in any case). It would be up there with Kennedy's or Roosevelt. The West Wing, The Wire, The Soprano's, Six Feet Under etc are all evidence that while the American century may be over you still dominate the planet in terms of brilliant dramas.

For 50 this is a steal. It is genuinely the most fantastic series that has ever been aired on tv. If you have never watched this before it is the perfect time to start. If you have already seen it I don't need to say anything you already know how good it is.

do not buy this box set!!! seriously, less than 50 for the finest piece of drama in modern history (TV, movies or stage). it will consume your entire life and you will watch every episode ten times and have little time left for the rest of your life. you have been warned!

if you have the separate season boxes, it's just the 7 season boxes with a slimline cased DVD of added extras.
if you havent bought the season boxes, then this is tremendous value...

This is one of, if not the, finest T.V shows ever made. However you choose to rate it - acting, direction, writing, editing, music - it triumphs in each and every category.
It is by turns dramatic, thought-provoking, funny, inspiring and educational. Not since the 4077th M*A*S*H stopped taking casulties have I been so taken by a group of characters.
This is the perfect antidote to the reality of what a mess everything is after eight years of Bush. It is impossible not to watch and wish that these people really were the leaders of the world.
